32. St. Louis Blues
Jordan Binnington
6-5-5
.882
-7.63
Joel Hofer
3-5-2
.877
-3.69
Based on perceived talent, the Blues’ goalie tandem would be ranked much, much higher than this. Jordan Binnington is viewed as a clutch performer and could still start for Team Canada at the Olympics. Entering this season, Joel Hofer was widely considered one of the best backups in the NHL, capable of starting for multiple teams.
Based on the results this season, though, this tandem couldn’t be ranked anywhere but last. The Blues have actually played decent hockey as a team, ranking in the top half of the league in nearly every underlying metric. They’ve given up the second-fewest expected goals per 60 minutes.
The problem has been the -11.32 goals saved above expected, which are equally shared by Binnington and Hofer. They are two talented goalies, and they may very well rank much higher the next time these rankings come out, but thus far, they’ve been the weakest tandem in the NHL.

Edit to add: the formatting stinks, but the stats shown are W/L record, save pct, and goals saved above expected (where Blues are dead last).

A timely save (or lack thereof) can absolutely sway an entire game in the NHL. The margins are razor thin. How many times do we see a goalie make a huge save and then their team comes down and scores? It happens frequently.
The Blues goalies have not been anywhere near good enough. It seems other teams score any real chance they get along with scoring a few goals they shouldn't along the way.

Re: Blues goaltending ranks LAST: Athletic
there was a november only stats thing that had all of our metrics in the top 15 and top 10 minus 5 on 5 scoring. Then there was an october stats thing that had our scoring way up there and everything else was middling except our PK and goalies. The consistent has appeared to be the goalie play not being amazing.
The change the team has decided to make is cover that up and play a more defensive branded hockey game that is limiting shots but we aren't scoring goals now. It's pretty disgusting the amount of times we have lost when the other team has only scored 2 in regulation. Goalies not coming up with timely saves and the Blues not able to pour it on.

Tough to see, for sure.
Maybe we have something in a few years with 6th rounder Love Härenstam. He has GAA of 2.00 and SV% of .921 (both rank third best for Södertälje SK in the HockeyAllsvenskan Sweden league).
Not bad for the 18 year-old at this point.

Very different things, Hofer just had a really bad start and has been as expected every since. Binnington not so much.
