That's funny!blackinkbiz wrote: ↑01 Dec 2025 20:19 pmHave you guys ever seen a flock of ducks flying in perfect formation? It's beautiful. Pretty awesome the way they all stick together. They know that if they mess with one duck, they gotta deal with the whole flock.Galatians221jb1 wrote: ↑01 Dec 2025 19:42 pm I wonder if instead of “Let’s Go Blues” the crowd just quacks. While I am not a big fan of the DUCKS as a team name, you nailed it on your analysis of the character traits of ducks (and how it should be followed when picking a team philisophy). I was raised on a 220 acres farm/ranch so always had many ducks on the property. You summarized their behavior perfectly!blackinkbiz wrote: ↑01 Dec 2025 20:19 pmHave you guys ever seen a flock of ducks flying in perfect formation? It's beautiful. I wonder how the general public feels about "Blues" being a team name.

hah, all I did was copy and paste Gordon Bombay's (Emilio Estevez) speech from the original Mighty Ducks movie when he was telling the District 5 kids why the Duck wasn't as bad of a mascot as they thought.Plagers4Ever wrote: ↑02 Dec 2025 10:45 amWhile I am not a big fan of the DUCKS as a team name, you nailed it on your analysis of the character traits of ducks (and how it should be followed when picking a team philisophy). And for the record, I've never been that hot on the "Blues" as a sport's team myself.

Good point. With 50+ years of futility, I agree, but I only agree with fans. Outsiders I'll fight over it. It just made for an easy target.
It was actually a Jeopardy question in early 2019. I still have a picture of the screen.
"This team entered the NHL in 1967. Made the finals the first 3 years, but, their fans have been singing their name ever since".

SNL skit- I'm Chase Kidd, a rightwing predator.
Let's just say it was decisive .
It was during Miles Teller hosting a month or so ago.

Cleveland should have gone with Spiders (and I HATE spiders). Some of the concept art for Spiders logos were great.Absolut wrote: ↑01 Dec 2025 21:38 pmBackground in the guardians bridge.

The script logo for Guardians spells out Indians (the right vertical line of the a being the i, the r and the left side of the d being the n, and the rest d-i-a-n-s) is the reason they went with the name. I'll die on that conspiracy hill.

From 1984 to the middle of 87 I lived in a bungalow duplex in North Hollywood. A revolving door of friends from Theater in St. Louis stayed next door as they made it here, or moved back to Acting careers in the Midwest. My pal from Theater Project Company, Brian Hohlfeld wrote much of the script when he was living next door. He only consulted me once on a technical matter, but he was a Blues fan and no dummy. They gave sole writing credit (and Royalties) to the guy who polished it . Brian took it to the Writers' Guild, but they had a 51% rule, and he lost a lot on that decision. Not to worry- he has had and is still having a great career.blackinkbiz wrote: ↑02 Dec 2025 13:50 pmhah, all I did was copy and paste Gordon Bombay's (Emilio Estevez) speech from the original Mighty Ducks movie when he was telling the District 5 kids why the Duck wasn't as bad of a mascot as they thought.Plagers4Ever wrote: ↑02 Dec 2025 10:45 amWhile I am not a big fan of the DUCKS as a team name, you nailed it on your analysis of the character traits of ducks (and how it should be followed when picking a team philisophy). The worst team name in any sport is the Chicago cubs. How cute. Especially when their fans call them "cubbies" - nothing more cringe-worthy than that.

Hohlfeld (a Blues fan) wrote the first Ducks' movie script? Though obviously didn't get the credit for it...Harry York 37 wrote: ↑03 Dec 2025 16:04 pmFrom 1984 to the middle of 87 I lived in a bungalow duplex in North Hollywood.
