Re: Bolduc on fire
Bolduc is now on the 4th line.
He had a few shots though.
Montreal is fun to watch. Loaded with young stars. Bolduc is JAG.

Re: Bolduc on fire
I don't watch them play but I think Bolduc is one of those players that won't drive his own performance. If he's paired with quality players he'll put up numbers and score a bunch of goals, but if you put him with a bunch of defensive 3rd/4th liners he's not going to do that.
A little like Barbashev. He didn't put up offensive numbers with us, but you pair him with an Eichel and he's put up the offensive numbers.
Re: Bolduc on fire
It doesn’t matter if he has 20 goals or 0. He’s gone now. We have our own problems without worrying about what others are doing
Re: Bolduc on fire
Barbs popped a 60 point season with the Blues, best of his career so far. Your comparison might prove to have some validity if Bolduc hits 60 around age 26.LGB73 wrote: ↑04 Dec 2025 09:54 amI don't watch them play but I think Bolduc is one of those players that won't drive his own performance. Barbs also scored some key goals and did yeoman work on the Blues incredible 4th line during the 2019 playoffs.DawgDad wrote: ↑04 Dec 2025 10:01 amBarbs popped a 60 point season with the Blues, best of his career so far. Re: Bolduc on fire
I'm really starting to become curious about the Bolduc thing. Tim/Pierre has suggested that the Blues saw something they didn't like and that's part of the reason they traded him. Then the fact that he has been frequently relegated to the bottom six in Montreal, and his ice time has shrunk as a result, really makes me wonder what is going on. Montreal has a lot of talented, young forwards, but the Bolduc thing just seems to be getting a little weird.Cujo's Mask wrote: ↑03 Dec 2025 22:06 pmBolduc with just 8 minutes tonight and Texier with 18…go figure. Tex also got a shootout attempt.IsDurbanodoingtime wrote: ↑03 Dec 2025 20:38 pm Maybe he wants to generate in the bottom 6 but MSL apparently banishing Bolduc to fourth line minutes and not a whiff with the big boys tonite - rolling juraj, caufield and suzuki.
Re: Bolduc on fire
Yea I think so too. The guy is having trouble "sticking" in a particular place in the lineup despite looking decent in games from what I have seen. The numbers are there. There's got to be something else about him (personality, off ice issues, etc).Frank Underwood wrote: ↑04 Dec 2025 11:43 amI'm really starting to become curious about the Bolduc thing. Re: Bolduc on fire
Possibly....His defensive game is suspect. I thought he was a liability in the playoffs. I thought maybe he didn't have a future here after the Winnipeg series. Unreliable player in some respects.
Re: Bolduc on fire
Yeah I saw Barbs as a very good player here. He has not surprised me.DawgDad wrote: ↑04 Dec 2025 10:01 amBarbs popped a 60 point season with the Blues, best of his career so far. Re: Bolduc on fire
What's good for Mailloux to understand the importance of playing experience can go to Zach too. He is still learning.
But I do agree his path to date has been nearly mysterious. I'll have to try to catch one of their games.

Hey, we play in Montreal on Sunday, so maybe we'll get some insight. Maybe Kerbs and Joey can fill us in between fascinating, random stories!

It's been a tough season on multiple fronts, hasn't it?Frank Underwood wrote: ↑04 Dec 2025 13:25 pmHey, we play in Montreal on Sunday, so maybe we'll get some insight. Maybe Kerbs and Joey can fill us in between fascinating, random stories!
That change in the booth has been just bad.

Sad to say that it seemed to set the tone for what we have seen on the ice so far.....dhsux wrote: ↑04 Dec 2025 13:27 pmIt's been a tough season on multiple fronts, hasn't it?Frank Underwood wrote: ↑04 Dec 2025 13:25 pmHey, we play in Montreal on Sunday, so maybe we'll get some insight. Re: Bolduc on fire
5 points in 2 games is where it stopped. He's back to posting zeroes. He's pacing for 38 points.
Looking at his stats, his elite shot is evident with a career 15.4% (15.8% this season), but the dude only shoots 1.5 SOG/game. This is despite getting the most TOI and PPTOI of his career. He will never produce if he doesn't shoot, and he doesn't currently shoot.
Interestingly, in Quarter 1 he mostly played with Gallagher and Dach, putting up 7 pts in 20 games. In Q2, he has played with Suzuki and Caufield and put up 5 pts in 6 games, so at least he can produce if he is anchored to elite talent. Maybe they were trying to put him in a position to get more SOG and success finding the back of the net.
Alluding to what others have mentioned: in his most recent game, he saw less than 8:00 TOI and no PP time. His TOI was a team low, so yeah it looks like someone isn't happy with him.
Re: Bolduc on fire
Well 38 points with his ice time/opportunity ain’t so bad is it. Compare some of the Blues top players and ice time to get an idea.PregnantNun wrote: ↑04 Dec 2025 14:01 pm5 points in 2 games is where it stopped. He's back to posting zeroes. He's pacing for 38 points.
Something about Bolduc … I think he might give off an energy and be harder to coach. Just a feeling after watching some stuff

Re: Bolduc on fire
Normalized over 60 minutes, that works out to about 2 points a game (2 pts per 60 min of playing time). So about 55 points if he played 20 minutes a night, which a player like Bolduc will never do. Seems like he is headed for a 50 point absolute upside unless he finds another gear and stops getting his TOI throttled. I think he's a great 3rd or 4th line depth piece for a good team, but nothing to be upset about losing either.
