Re: What is everyone preferred bowl for this year
Nashville is the happening city anymore but truly what difference does it make? Biggest thing about bowls is all the extra practices they get before the game. By then too Beau will really ready to go or he might even get into OU or AR. Will find out what the plan is for next year will they stick with Beau and a rising Zoller or it's all Freshman and possibly going after a Transfer experienced better QB? Plus all the PT the young players will get to get head start on Spring practice and preparing for next season.

Perhaps because I can see their stadium from my apartment, I would love to see the Tigers take on the Bugeaters. 2 true freshmen quarterbacks, the country's #1 rusher vs #5 rusher, 2 decent defenses. Would be a good game.

Athlon has us in the Duke’s Mayo Bowl vs Louisville on Jan 2nd in Charlotte, NC.
That will of course change most likely, but that’s our current status.

I like this and the idea of a big name program. Much better than a Louisville. Also, Nebraska leads the all time series at 65-36 so we need itedwin drood wrote: ↑20 Nov 2025 15:40 pm Perhaps because I can see their stadium from my apartment, I would love to see the Tigers take on the Bugeaters. 2 true freshmen quarterbacks, the country's #1 rusher vs #5 rusher, 2 decent defenses. I love playing old rivals, even the annoying ones like Oklahoma. I’m sure Nebraska fans would be also be pious thinking it’s 30+ years ago still. But those nostalgic games are fun. The OU game was fun, albeit frustrating.Luke77 wrote: ↑23 Nov 2025 12:32 pmI like this and the idea of a big name program. Much better than a Louisville. Here are the latest predictions before Saturday's games:
CBS - Texas Bowl vs Iowa State
ESPN 1 - Music City vs Nebraska
ESPN 2 - Mayo Bowl vs Duke
Athletic - Texas vs Iowa State
USA Today - Music City vs Illinois
Athlon - Mayo Bowl vs Louisville
SI - Music City vs Illinois
I still like the Music City as Nashville is a fun city, but Texas Bowl would be better for recruiting.

I would love to have Mizzou play the Children of the Corn again. Maybe we can invite James Wilder and Kellen Winslow back as honorary captains. But a Texas Bowl vs the Cyclones may yield better recruiting results.rezero wrote: ↑29 Nov 2025 23:35 pm Here are the latest predictions before Saturday's games:

I’d probably go:
1. Music City vs Illinois
2. Music City vs Nebraska
Either of those would be an old rival and a huge crowd in a fun city not far away.

Want to play Illini or "Children of the Corn" (Nebraska). Nashville is perfect location.
I just remember James Wilders against Nebraska. He was a man among "farm boys".

If I'm the head coach the QB competition starts whenever the first practice is prior to the bowl game.
This checkerboard field era offense isnt going to cut it next season.

I don't even care. Not much difference between the bowls in question. And that's where we are at the end of a disappointing season.

I would too but I think their loss to Iowa knocked them down a notch.ex-submariner wrote: ↑16 Nov 2025 16:06 pm I'd love to play Nebraska and beat the [shirt] out of them!

Re: What is everyone preferred bowl for this year
I was thinking Music City vs the Fuskers would be intriguing (although we've been spending a lot of time in Nash-Vegas lately). We're 8-4. They're 7-5. Pretty close, but then I looked at the Nub's schedule. I guess their best win was their first game this season; vs Cincinnati (7-5) in Arrowhead. If I remember it right, with time running out the Bearcats had the ball in the Red Zone & could've kicked a FG to tie, but their QB tried to force a pass into double coverage, NE intercepted & won by 3. Their other wins came against: Houston Christian (2-10), Akron (5-7), Mich St (4-8), MD (4-8). NW (6-6) & UCLA (3-9). And we haven't "beaten anyone"????
I just booked a flight to Charlotte so Murphy's Law says that's not where we're going.

Re: What is everyone preferred bowl for this year
Illinois would seem to be a more competitive team. They are also 8-4. They have good wins over USC (9-3) & Duke (7-5) & beat W Mich (8-4). Other wins, not so much: W IL (4-8), Rutgers (5-7), Maryland (4-8), NW (6-6) & B.O.'s Purdue (2-10). They had a "little" problem against really good teams: IN (10-63!) & THE Ohio St (16-34).
