Re: On this board, winning=silence
I didn’t want to “jinx” them during the last few games, but the play of Binnington and Hofer have been outstanding . It’s a shame the Save % of each game seems to be below .900 (except Sat) because these goalies are doing their job well. Some of Hofer’s passing in front of the net scares me , but if the play in the defensive zone continues to tighten up we may have something special again. So the two goalies have come to play, but will the rest of the group follow?
Re: On this board, winning=silence
Hofer does like to make it exciting doesn't he Russdv14? They both have been playing much better for sure. But it helps with the defenseman in the right spots lately and the forwards, who have been in good defensive position as well. And they are laying their bodies out more lately and blocking shots that they weren't doing a lot earlier in the year. It wasn't all their fault at the beginning of the the season, but they no doubt both have improved their play as of late. It is great seeing the team playing hard again and winning puck battles that they were not winning earlier in the year.Russdv14 wrote: ↑30 Nov 2025 00:03 am I didn’t want to “jinx” them during the last few games, but the play of Binnington and Hofer have been outstanding . Team is playing better. Effort is much better.
On offense, going to the net and funneling the puck to the center of the ice has been evident. Defense is activating more from the points. Still not a ton of quality finish yet, or enough shots built from o zone possession, but progress. A few more 4 or 5 goal games will boost the team confidence bc theyre playing the right way imo. Kids need some 5v5 goals.
On defense, they aren't getting beat as often down low as they were before. Defense staying home, not leaving good ice for bad, forwards are collapsing and working better as a unit to escape the zone. Still some maddening brain farts with turnovers, but the D to O has been improving. I noticed the team made a change to our shorthanded 5x6 strategy that has the center x man pressure the puck more which has helped, but still without some big saves the last two games... outcomes could be very different. Goalies have been solid.
All in all, more positives than negatives. Hoping for a strong finish to the homestand. Need to play determined hockey vs the Ducks, shut down the Carlsson line, and fire a lot of rubber at Dostal who will give up a juicy rebound or two. Theyre a good young, fast, but very beatable team. They dont handle forecheck pressure very well and will turn the puck over, but their team defense is solid. Will be a battle to get to the net. Go Blues

Dostal is out for 2-3 weeks. Looks like we might see Ville Hussoxweazel75 wrote: ↑30 Nov 2025 07:03 am

Another game the Blues chose to win the hard way, although that huge "penalty" on Sunny was not even accidental, it was just hockey and shamefully handled by the refs who were influenced by the injury.
Anyway I love the fight we are seeing but I am still waiting on a more systematic approach to this teams offense. The players have more to give not sure if they are just finding themselves or will they continue to flounder on offense?
The goal differential has got to change for this team to find a play off spot.

Crowded field, but two points out of wildcard!

I was critical and still am. 19 shots 3 in the third holding on to beat a struggling team. 8 of last 9 they’ve scored less than 3. Snuggerud and Dvorsky still not having much impact offensively as most of the team isn’t. Only positive is the goaltending is improved, which most knew it wasn’t THAT bad.
Re: On this board, winning=silence
For good reason. There's only so many high fives, and pats on the back to give. Too many and you have a bunch of [kittycat]'s on your hand.
Also, it was a holiday weekend.
Some say the most traveled days of the year.

Re: On this board, winning=silence
I put that in for all the [kittycats].
Edit... I've noticed you are one who hasn't posted outside here and your pts thread, since the wins.
Hypocrite much.

Don't keep tabs.
Facts are no one has posted much. The boards the same. Without complaints, those that complain about other posters don't fill up a thread with their [shirt]. That's all.
Also fact. Too many, 'that a boy, makes for a [kittycat].
