CFP Thread
Oklahoma beats LSU to stamp their ticket into the CFP. Georgia in. A&M in. Alabama in with a win tonight.
Should Vandy get in? I think they should.
All 4 Mizzou losses this season would be to playoff teams if the above SEC teams all get in.
Meanwhile, B1G and Big 12 schools play 1-2 decent teams all year and easily get in. Stupid.

With a competent passing game, Mizzou is at worst 10-2 and we're talking about CFP matchups right now. But us Mizzou fans can't have nice thingsLightning Rod wrote: ↑29 Nov 2025 18:12 pmWith Pavia Missouri would be undefeated.cardinalsfever44 wrote: ↑29 Nov 2025 18:08 pm Oklahoma beats LSU to stamp their ticket into the CFP. They could win it all, but I’m not sold they’re the best team. Definitely playoff worthy though.
Re: CFP Thread
Alabama will not get in with a win vs Auburn. If they win the SEC Championship game they are in, but IF THEY LOSE THE SEC CHAMPIONSHIP GAME HERE IS THE STATUS:cardinalsfever44 wrote: ↑29 Nov 2025 18:08 pm Oklahoma beats LSU to stamp their ticket into the CFP. There are only 10 spots up for grab with the ACC champ and Non-P5 team taking the final two spots. Of those remaining 10 spots, 9 teams are locks regardless of what happens next weekend (wins against top 20 teams in parenthesis):
Ohio St. (1)
Ole Miss (1)
Georgia (4)
Indiana (1)
Texas A&M (1)
Oregon (0)
Oklahoma (3)
Notre Dame (0)
Winner of Texas Tech vs BYU (1)
ACC Champ (Duke or Virgina) (0)
Non-P5 (0)
Remaining teams fighting for last spot:
The BYU Texas Tech loser (will have 2 loses)
Bama (3 loses)
Vandy (2 loses)
Miami (2 loses)
Utah (2 loses)
Texas (3 loses)
This will be mayhem for the last spot. What is crazy is of the 8 non-SEC teams listed above they only have a combines 3 wins against top 20 teams. It says the goal is to make as easy of a schedule as possible. Bama technically should get the last spot as they have 3 wins against top 20 teams and they played in Championship, but Texas also has 3 wins against top 20 teams and Vandy only has 2 loses and the best SOS of the 2 lose teams.
Mayhem!

There should be NO guaranteed spots in a 12 team playoff. None. Take the best 12 teams. The SEC is FAR superior to any of the other conferences top to bottom. Ridiculous that they get penalized for beating up on each other. Not saying there aren't other good, worthy teams. There are. But put Ohio St., Indiana, Oregon, BYU, Norte Dame, etc. in the SEC and see what their final record is.cardinalsfever44 wrote: ↑29 Nov 2025 18:08 pm Oklahoma beats LSU to stamp their ticket into the CFP. There are probably 3 or 4 SEC schools that won't get in that should. I would wager the SEC has 7 or 8 of the top 12 BEST teams in the country.
(Bama, Georgia, A&M, Ole Miss, OU, Vandy, Texas, Mizzou)
*Put Mizzou in the B10 and they are likely 10-2 or 11-1. Same for all the listed schools.
Re: CFP Thread
The Big10 expanded by adding teams like Nebraska, UCLA, Rutgers, Maryland, etc… While SEC expanded by adding, Texas, Oklahoma, Missouri, and A&M. SEC added top 20 teams, while Big10 added teams to pad Ohio States schedule. The problem is the committee looks are record first and not how they play. The worst team in SEC would be one of the top teams in the Big 12.Cardinals4Life wrote: ↑30 Nov 2025 00:46 amThere should be NO guaranteed spots in a 12 team playoff. None. Take the best 12 teams. Conferences are not like divisions in pro sports. They compete with each other in every way possible, they do not drive parity just the opposite.
The CFP needs to change this parochial rule and name the 12 best teams in the country.....PERIOD.

I like how they pick the 12 - your way would be very bad for college football as a whole.dhsux wrote: ↑30 Nov 2025 08:15 amThis should be as obvious as the nose on their faces.Cardinals4Life wrote: ↑30 Nov 2025 00:46 am

Re: CFP Thread
There aren’t enough teams in the playoff to do this automatically qualifying thing. It works for college basketball because there are 68 teams getting in. Enough at large bids to go around that if you miss the field, you only have yourself to blame most of the time.
That teams like Duke could find themselves in and Vandy, Bama, and Texas may not is really crazy.
The only way I like the auto qualifier is if they expand to 32 teams and make this thing a true tournament. And that won’t happen. For now it should be nearly 100% computer generated based on all the factors with only a bit of human factor. For those 50/50 decisions where maybe 2 teams are 10-2 and one beat the other head to head. Agree - 12 best teams period.

Re: CFP Thread
There's always a fuss about fringe teams. There won't be any difference when the CFP goes to 16 teams in a couple of years, except more teams will be upset at missing out.
Board fave Bill Connelly's ranking of top 12 teams looks a lot like the selection committee's choices, the main difference being no G5 team. Allowing G5 participation was just a bone anyway to get votes for the playoff format.
BC's 1-12, in order.
Ohio State Buckeyes
Indiana Hoosiers
Notre Dame Fighting Irish
Oregon Ducks
Texas Tech Red Raiders
Alabama Crimson Tide
Miami Hurricanes
Georgia Bulldogs
Utah Utes
Texas A&M Aggies
USC Trojans
Ole Miss Rebels
Texas and Vanderbilt are 13 and 14, just ahead of Penn State at 17.
Penn State? Come on, BIll.

Re: CFP Thread
Then you get the B1G sycophants campaigning for USC by touting a loss to Illinois as a good loss, because 2 of the Illini losses were to OSU and Indiana……where they lost by a combined 71 pts.rezero wrote: ↑30 Nov 2025 01:04 amThe Big10 expanded by adding teams like Nebraska, UCLA, Rutgers, Maryland, etc… While SEC expanded by adding, Texas, Oklahoma, Missouri, and A&M.
