My take on last nights game
They are still not playing well. Very disjointed game with poor passing and weak zone entries and missing on prime scoring opportunities.
However, some big things for this team were accomplished:
Come from behind win
3 goals in the 3rd.
Buch scores a ES goal
Blues break the 6/5 track record
Blues score 4 goals
JB stays clutch
Mailloux's 3rd solid game in a row
3 top six goals
Gotta start somewhere....I'm still hanging with these guys......fat lady still hasn't stood up yet.

If you can’t win when sundqvist, Buchnevich and kessel score we are doomed.

As bad as they have played this season, it’s a minor, marchin toward major, miracle that they’re still in the playoff hunt. Gotta love the OT point for losing teams.dhsux wrote: ↑29 Nov 2025 07:55 am They are still not playing well. From my personal experience, I’m telling you to hang in there. A couple years ago, I was a fan of a team and they were in last place in January, and went on to win the Cup! So don’t give up yet.dhsux wrote: ↑29 Nov 2025 07:55 am They are still not playing well. Very disjointed game with poor passing and weak zone entries and missing on prime scoring opportunities.

Lot's say it now, but I never gave up on them either. Can't say I saw a Cup in December but I stay with my teams until it's over.PM_123 wrote: ↑29 Nov 2025 08:47 amFrom my personal experience, I’m telling you to hang in there. Re: My take on last nights game
I don't see much resemblance to that team except for the play of Binner. That team played tough and brought the effort and finally the pieces fit together. Much of our offense is missing in action for long stretches this year. Maybe they should watch more video of 2019.
Re: My take on last nights game
That's the difference between being a fan of the team and a fan of their own commentary. There is no crime in calling out mistakes but to harp on them in 30 different threads is ridiculous.dhsux wrote: ↑29 Nov 2025 09:15 amLot's say it now, but I never gave up on them either. Re: My take on last nights game
When Perron scored and shortly after that, Kessel steps on the stick and loses the puck, I thought here we go again.
I thought we controlled the game (mostly) and Ottawa just had a few spurts (one being the six on five at the end of the game).

Re: My take on last nights game
Said it in the game thread at the end, but it's really obvious that teams are prepared for the style we've played for 95% of the ice time. They are ready for the drop passes, the cut backs on transition breaks, and all of the grade a scoring chance setups we've been trying. They're in the lane committing to the blocked shot or they are pressuring the puck creating passing mistakes. The goals the 3rd and 4th line have been scoring almost all season have been the result of net-front and effort, that one line's and occasionally the 3rd lines switch to a more straightforward drive to the net approach is change of pacing teams.
What would happen if the 1st or 2nd line did that every once in a while? I think the blues go from 2 goals and change a game to 4 goals and change a game pretty quickly. They go from 20-25 shots a game to 30-35 shots a game. They could all-in the strategy and get 40 shots, but i think thats a disservice to the skill they have, and borders on one dimensional the other way. Instead, on transition chances have the puck carrier shoot and the opposite guy set to go to the net to clean it up. Go from having a setup for what to do in the zone to having the setup basically become 1st man in then exits to become the 2nd defensemen while the waves or pressure follow behind (the way kessel was the 4th guy in). Change the tempo and the look, get teams off balance, and i think we can really start capitalizing on teams preparing just for our more methodical approach.
While the win normally should result in a similar team, i think we need to get Bjugstad and Torpedo back in there to keep the legs fresh on the energy lines.

My take on last night's game.
Not great. Then we scored and went into the turtle. Boring.
So, Goaltending is again winning us games. #bubblelife.
