He’s looked so much more relaxed and is playing his game, which has glimpses of whar the Blues need. Here’s to his continued imptovemt.
I agree, he makes some plays at RD that could only be made by him and maybe Faulk on this team. A lot of that is due to his skating and reach. He held it in the zone several times very well and fed the offense smoothly and effectively.
What baffles me at times is how he and Fowler do not mesh. I think they both want to run the play. Being with Fowler helped Mailloux get 16min of ice time, but I think at some point we should switch to Broberg-Mailloux and let Parayko have Fowler (great pairing last season). Eventually get Lindstein up or pick up a vet.
Looking forward to seeing how it plays out.
Fowler has been rough to say the least I agree eventually it will be Broberg Mailloux or at least that's what the Blues would love to see work. In the back of my mind I wonder if the team is trying to determine if Kessel and LM can handle some responsibility reasonably because one of Faulk or Parayko could be moved soon.
That's a good point. The general concept is that Mailloux eventually replaces Faulk. Similar skillset, opposite end of age spectrum.
Faulk with 1.75 seasons left on his contract with a 15 team NTC is likely to be dealt before extended. He's played well this season and doesn't look old. Honestly, if they pick it up here, I see them holding on to Faulk until at least the summer (and Parayko for that matter).
Kessel with the goal. Mailloux better with more minutes. Add Lindstein to the mix and maybe we can survive.
Like others have said…it’s early, but…I love him startin to show his potential, and seein what a slight few of us saw in him before his rough start. I kept sayin …PATIENCE, whike others were pining away for the future HOF’er Superstar Bolduc .
Wasn’t ready to cut him and build a bolduc statue last month. Not ready to build him one either. Long season. I like his offense and his mean streak he’s demonstrating lately.

He dominated at the AHL level which usually means that they will have a good NHL career. You could see from the first game when he came back up that his confidence has improved. He's going to have some hiccups but I also put up some points. This trade was never about this season, but two or three seasons from now.

Yeppers on all points. Which means the ‘Bolduc is God & Mailloux sucks’ crowd will still be whining all through his growing pains. Doesn’t mean sheeet tho, just hope this kid blocks out the Negative Nancys and becomes the badașs beast he’s capable of being!

Unfortunately you are right on sone of the fans here.
Mailoux just met 20 NHL games played. For a rookie defenseman he is looking very good. Nice to see him get some swagger in his play. I am looking forward to what he looks like at 50 games.

Not hearing much from them now but you are right...they will be back.

If the Blues continue to sputter until the trade deadline could definitely see one of them moved - Faulk being more likely IMO. Kind of scary though thinking about RD of Colt, LM and Kessel.
It took Pronger a season and a half to start looking like the player that was drafted. NOT COMPARING THE TWO! Just saying that all along patience was going to be required. It's funny though, Some fans blast STL for being a soft place to play with the fans and the media not holding players accountable. I think Pronger would tell you they're wrong. It was BRUTAL.

When they sent him down to Springfield he didn't dominate before they brought him back up, it was more like a reset button. For several games down there after the Blues sent him down I still had no idea what he could even do on the ice because he had shown nothing. If I had watched Laval at all last year I would have seen something since he was an all-star, but I wasn't seeing it with Springfield. He was getting more minutes and he scored a goal finally so it must have helped. I still wouldn't say I felt confident in him or comfortable with him at the AHL level. Thus, it sounds like he finally is showing a glimpse or two at the NHL level. I mean, in a bleak outset, yes, glimpses are welcome. Sounds like he had a glimpse game yesterday.

He's playing more sure of himself, more certain of his (better) decisions. You can see that. He's more involved as well, jumping in on scrums and almost inviting trouble.
He has shown some good offensive plays too like the great feed to Schenn last night.
I said yesterday I haven't seen him off net yet on his shots, which look deadly.
Long way to go but he looks like he belongs on this call up.

I agree, scary, but like you said, we'd already be in a tank situation and could let the young players play. Over the next few seasons you expect our top prospects and young players to advance in league or role, taking spots from vets, so before too long we should be more convinced rather than frightened.

I think he just had to stop thinking when he's playing. He came to St Louis to a new team, manager and system. That's a lot to take in. It looks like he's just playing now. Last year Broberg came in and scored a few goals. We got all excited. He didn't score much after the injury, but his defensive game really blossomed.

That's what Pronger told him..."Just play the way you know how" to paraphrase.

Hope he continues on this path.
One observation on his return is he seems to be playing with more physicality than the other defensemen. He's chippy in a way Parayko isn't.

Agree that Mailloux is now focusing more on the game. It was good to see him on the ice last night protecting a one goal lead with less than 4 minutes left. I imagine this small increase in responsibility is part of his learning process.
