CFP - SEC may lose a team due to Texas A&M loss
If A&M loses, this will put Alabama and Georgia in the SEC championship (assume Bama beats Auburn). We will still have 5 teams technically in going into championship with Georgia, Ole Miss and Texas A&M as locks. If OU beats LSU, they will be in. This leaves Alabama as needing to win the championship game as the committee has shown in the past a loss in the championship game is the same as a loss in the regular season, so that will put Bama with 3 loses. That will leave these teams in line for the final spot (last 2 filled by ACC champ and highest other conf team):
Bama
BYU - plays Texas Tech for Big 12 championship. A loss kicks them out, but win probably puts them in ahead of Bama, but does Texas Tech then get bumped?
Miami - Miami is in an odd spot as they are the highest ranked ACC team but will not play in championship.
Utah
Vanderbilt
Texas
I just dont see Alabama getting in ahead of BYU/Texas Tech and Miami. So, for Bama, they playoff start next weekend against Georgia.

They better beat Auburn first or they'll drop way down the food chain.
Re: CFP - SEC may lose a team due to Texas A&M loss
I don't care about the rest of the SEC. I'm a Missouri fan. And I can't stand Texas or Texas A&M, but I'm glad the Aggies lost. They had the softest SEC schedule maybe in history. Until they had to play Texas at Texas. And now some of their fans say they are happy that they lost and don't have to play in the SEC Championship Game.
UGA fans I'm not so sure are that happy because now they are at risk of losing 2 games as they have to play in the title game. If Alabama beats Auburn and UGA, they're probably going to be the SEC team that gets the bye in the CFP.
The SECCG needs to be eliminated now that the CFP is here. I couldn't blame teams that don't want to play in it when they're already headed for the playoffs. Why should the title game potentially be punitive? Doesn't make a lot of sense.

It's always funny seeing the over reactions from the low self esteem on this forum.
There's actually much, much better odds the SEC gets FIVE instead of three. Right now odds are not even being offered on Georgia, Ole Miss and Texas AM. Oklahoma and Alabama are 9-2 and 2-1 to make it.
Even Texas and Vandy have odds not far off from BYU and Miami.

Nobody said THREE. The question is 4 vs 5. Please keep up.winonsports wrote: ↑29 Nov 2025 09:26 am It's always funny seeing the over reactions from the low self esteem on this forum.

Alabama has the same odds to win tonight as they do to make the CFP.

Utah's win still keeps them on the board to make the CFP.dugoutrex wrote: ↑29 Nov 2025 09:49 amhow 'bout that KU game?winonsports wrote: ↑29 Nov 2025 09:36 amThen your initial premise is wrong.rezero wrote: ↑29 Nov 2025 09:29 amNobody said THREE. It sickens me that Michigan is going to beat Ohio State today to get into the CFP without having beaten anyone all year until today. The B1G is an absolute joke.

Michigan player head butts a ref and remains in the game.

Ohio State initially granted a very late call TD while being very short of the end zone. My goodness are these refs bad.............or most likely paid.

You won't often catch me pulling for Ohio State, but I really don't want to see ANOTHER B1G team in the CFP.dugoutrex wrote: ↑29 Nov 2025 12:49 pmexciting game - Go Buckeyes!cardinalsfever44 wrote: ↑29 Nov 2025 11:52 am Ohio State initially granted a very late call TD while being very short of the end zone.
