Not a particularly optimistic showing overall in the first half. Sure, MU romped to a 23-0 start in the first 8 minutes, but in the last 12 minutes CS outscored them. An SEC team likely would have had Mizzou for lunch during that same12 minutes.

I know we have a 22 point lead, but we had better get out stuff together when we play someone with a pulse. It just appears we going through the motions sometimes, impressed at times but also a little concerned.

We still don't understand that we need to guard the 3 point line, even against inferior opponents.

Just sloppy. Mizzou plays with little intensity. They don’t value the basketball. Bad passes, way too many turnovers. Pedestrian defense. They are 7-0?? but they haven’t been in that grinder of a game yet.

There’s a long way to go as a team before SEC play. ND, Kansas and Illinois coming up. How are they going to respond to those guys. There doesn’t appear to be many restrictions on the players and they sure don’t seem to recognize their limitations. Mack envisions himself as a 3 point shooter, doesn’t seem to matter what the stats say. Where was Robinson today, just going through the motions. We don’t take care of the basketball. Sloppy passes, bad reads.

I’m happy for the win but you expect a learning curve and better awareness during the game. Things are going to pick up quickly and maybe they are hiding the good basketball.

Observations from today.
Team looked totally uninterested, too many cupcakes must make you lathargic.
Crews shooting like last year but making contributions elsewhere.
Mack, out of control, no shot, ball hog.
Trying too hard to get the ball to Phillips down low, even if he is triple teamed.
Still don't guard the 3 line and give up too many open shots.
Boateng not ready for prime time.
Ant still fouling way too much.
FT shooting getting better.
8-0, I'll take it, but we got work to do.

Mack has been out of control all season so far, and Gates doesn't seem inclined to reel him in. He's a volume shooter with a subpar shot.

This thread is hilarious. Mizzou immediately disposes of a weaker team and turns on cruise control but hey why not complain a bit?

Mizzou vs Cleveland St. would tell us nothing more about the basketball team than the game vs UCA or Louisiana told us about the football team. Winning by 90 or winning by 9 is truly irrelevant in these games, winning is all that matters.
And Mizzou did that within what 9 minutes? Seems to me blowing a team out and then shifting into “let’s just stay healthy and keep this lead” mode is always a pretty good strategy against the sisters of the poor. And not always something Mizzou has done under Gates by the way.

A rough football month has completely warped a portion of this board.

I'll stick with my original comment, barksdale. You have your opinion, and that's fine. The truth is that Mizzou should have controlled that game throughout , and instead, the mid major team controlled it for most of the final 32 minutes. That makes Mizzou a team that does not look ready to succeed very well in the SEC.They have a lot to prove in the upcoming games against Notre Dame, Kansas and Illinois.

A multi-talented Arkansas team just recently beat Samford College 79-75 and the refs gave them a game 84-83 vs the Mighty Winthrop College.
Mizzou has an average team in my opinion, but Gates seems to get the best out of the lack of talent he seems to have since he's been here.
