Carolina Hurricanes right wing Andrei Svechnikov

Post by stanw »

I have read he is possibly available --- Svechnikov regularly scores at a 70-point pace -- what do you think it would take ?? Kyrou plus what ?

I like him, he plays a little bit like Tarasenko did. But the asking price is reportedly unreasonably high and if Blues fans hate on Tarasenko and Kyrou, Svechnikov will be lumped into the same category.

Kyrou and Fowler for Svech. Get it done Army.

1:1 Svechnikov for Kyrou. Maybe add Binnington for one of their prospects and a first. Svech is more physical than Kyrou.

Goodness no. Kyrou scores more goals per 82 games, and Svechnikov has never put up 70 points in a season.

And if you move Fowler, then Tucker becomes 2LHD, and 3LHD is ...... ?

I would be surprised if Carolina takes back a soft or smaller forward for Svechnikov.
He's their only forward in the top 6 with size.
It's a major red flag if they're willing to trade him. He's solid but never reached the ceiling most thought he had.

They still need a 2C and have for years, but always trade for wingers????
I can't believe they'll go into the playoffs with Stanky at center.

Carolina has plenty of cap space and 1st round draft capital to go after one of the bigger name centers that are or will be available:
Kadri, Couturier, O'Reilly, & perhaps Malkin.

They also need a RHD so returning Faulk to where we got him makes sense.
When healthy, they're loaded at LHD so they zero interest in Fowler.

I would rather trade for another guy that is rumored to be available: P. Mintyukov from Anaheim.

Agreed that they may have some interest in Faulk. They have lots of draft capital and prospects to dangle.

On Mintyukov, I haven’t seen much of him, but do we want another project on D like we just acquired with Mailloux? Why is ANA willing to give up on him? I have nightmares of “buyer beware” flashing in my head. Maybe they’d take Fowler back now that Coach Q has righted the ship. And maybe he’d agree to waive to go back.

Mintyukov has a lot more NHL experience than Mailloux and didn't have his growth stunted because of lack of playing time because of an off ice indiscretion.

Minty sort of reminds me of Nemec's situation (unhappy & buried on the depth chart) last year in NJ.
I was pushing for Nemec in late June as part of a Kyrou trade. Most here said no way.
That ship has sailed on all fronts.

LaCombe is obviously Q's guy on the left side.
Zellweger comes next and they're penciling in Solberg probably next year on the 3rd pair.

The other issue that Anaheim has is something I brought up last summer when at first glance it appeared they had plenty of cap space.
They had (McTavish, LaCombe & Dostal) and still have players to extend that are going to cost a lot of cash.
They still went out and traded for Kreider and signed Granlund which added 13.5 to the books which seemed strange since they already had 2 veteran forwards (Killorn and Vatrano) that were vastly overpaid.

Leo Carlsson is going to get a HUGE deal and Gauthier will also cash in big time.
Mintyukov and Zellweger are also up next summer.

They'll also probably try to re-sign Trouba to a short term deal until Luneau is ready.
I doubt they'll bring back Gudas since Moore can handle the 3rd pair at a cheaper rate.

My point is that Minty might just be a victim of circumstance. Yuk,yuk, yuk.
I think they would be stupid to sell low on that kid.

IMHO Owen Power should be the target.

Question would be: is he a $8.35m (x6) Dman somewhere outside of Buffalo? Expensive gamble; or is it?

Tbf he said Svech has scored at a 70 point pace. That is true. He had a 5 year stretch from his second season to year before last where he averaged 71 points per 82 games.

But no, he has never actually hit that mark. He hasn’t played a full season since he was a rookie.

This one is easy. Buch and Kyrou for Svechnikov and a cap dump if they want. :D

Faulk
Buch
Kyrou

for

Svech
Kotkaniemi

Gotta give to get. Maybe they want some picks or prospects. Maybe we want some too.

If everyone agrees, maybe we can even get Carrier back in the deal 8)
