WTF was Fowler doing?
After Thomas made stupid play behind goal Fowler leaves his man uncovered for easy goal.
Re: WTF was Fowler doing?
It appeared that he was having an acid flashback.
Lost all cognitive and motor skills.
Leaving his guy unattended for a tap in OTW
2nd straight episode for Fowler in OT and the Blues 7th straight OTL

He must have gotten all crossed up and forgot how to work the body.
That goal was 100% on Thomas.

Re: WTF was Fowler doing?
Fowler isn't a competent Dman...never was, never will be...and he's still working on his old contract, his $6.1m x 3 hasn't even kicked in. Thanks Army.
Re: WTF was Fowler doing?
RT effed up BUT.....
How long did the Blues have the puck in OT?
You have to go north in OT with a confident idea.

He rarely wins puck battles. WHEN he does shoot it's accurate and he scores fairly often. And at least he shoots for corners rather than the goalie's gut, unlike some/one of our "best" shooters when they are uncovered in the slot. I mean watch on TV every game how many times Thomas nails the top corner shot against the kid in the Car Shield commercials.
Thomas is a good player, can move and pass the puck extremely well, but he needs to be better.
Re: WTF was Fowler doing?
I can’t for the life of me understand why when you have a puck in the offensive zone, that you just skate backwards and retreat to center ice. They have no sense of urgency to win the game, they’re just skating around waiting for the shoot out (which they also sukk at btw). Zero aggression. Period.

Ugh, that extension... Will likely end up worse than Leddy's. Was just completely unwarranted and unnecessary.smilinjoefission wrote: ↑26 Nov 2025 22:20 pm Fowler isn't a competent Dman...never was, never will be...and he's still working on his old contract, his $6.1m x 3 hasn't even kicked in. For a GM who's made so many masterful moves, it's hard to believe he's made so many clunkers.

The better question is why was your winger covering no one? Even after Thomas lost the board battle they were still in decent shape until Kyrou decided go on a leisurely jaunt.

This. I believe it was a chain reaction thing that started before Thomas and Fowler. It only takes one bad move to lose, especially in 3on3 overtime. There isn't much reaction time to be had.

I could be mistaken, but I thought he went off and Holloway came on2forDiving wrote: ↑27 Nov 2025 10:39 am The better question is why was your winger covering no one? Even after Thomas lost the board battle they were still in decent shape until Kyrou decided go on a leisurely jaunt.
Re: WTF was Fowler doing?
What was concerning about Fowler was that he got used to playing in a losing culture with the Ducks that clearly lacked accountability and playing meaningful hockey games year after year.blackinkbiz wrote: ↑27 Nov 2025 10:21 amUgh, that extension... Many players will overachieve and run on extra adrenaline after a mid season trade. Look at what Sammy Blias, Kapp, and Vrana did with the Blues in the final 2 months of that season. Both Blais and Vrana scored at a 40 goal pace and both are out of the league now. Kap paced around 50+ points and of course is singing short league minimum contracts rights now
Why not see how Fowler does this season since you have him under contract. It’s not like he would demand much more than he got at his age if he had a really solid year….no way he was going to keep the pace of last seasons points.

Ever since Army got caught with his pants down on Petro, he overcompensates and signs guys early.stlblue06 wrote: ↑27 Nov 2025 12:18 pmWhat was concerning about Fowler was that he got used to playing in a losing culture with the Ducks that clearly lacked accountability and playing meaningful hockey games year after year.blackinkbiz wrote: ↑27 Nov 2025 10:21 amUgh, that extension... I really think the Petro thing broke him. He’s been overall bad since that time

Re: WTF was Fowler doing?
Exactly. Could have even waited till midseason to see if he could come close to last year's production while playing for his next contract. And the AAV isn't that bad but considering he'll be on the north side of 35 for the majority of this extension, team just can't afford to be overpaying aged 30+ vets who are underproducing and still expect to be competitive.stlblue06 wrote: ↑27 Nov 2025 12:18 pmWhat was concerning about Fowler was that he got used to playing in a losing culture with the Ducks that clearly lacked accountability and playing meaningful hockey games year after year.blackinkbiz wrote: ↑27 Nov 2025 10:21 amUgh, that extension... Fowler, Buch, Schenn, Sunny, and Paryako ... why is this team struggling? These 5! They're the team's leaders and highest paid players and here's what they're contributing:
https://puckpedia.com/team/st-louis-blues
St Louis Blues 25-26 cap hit total: $94 million
Buch: $8 mil
Schenn: $6.5 mil
Sunny: $1.5 mil
Parayko: $6.5 mil
Fowler: $4 mil
These 5 vets, all of whom see PP time every game, account for more than 1/4 the entire team's payroll, and they have a combined 7 goals between them.
7!
THERE ARE 78 PLAYERS CURRENTLY IN THE NHL WHO HAVE EACH SCORED MORE GOALS INDIVIDUALLY THAN THESE 5 HAVE COMBINED FOR!!!!!!!!!!!
There's no mystery; there should be no scratching of heads or any unsolved conundrum that is hiding why this team isn't winning. It's THESE 5 OVER 30 VETS who are supposed to be leading the team and shouldering the brunt of the pressure who HAVE TO START SCORING GOALS.
Piling up secondary assists doesn't mean jack sh*t if your team can't score f'n goals and these 5 need to wake the F up and start doing their job and find the back of the net. This happens, and the rest should fall into place.

Re: WTF was Fowler doing?
And just to clarify, these 5 should account for about 75 goals per season combined, which means their total should be right around 20 at this point.
So to be at 7, they're doing their job at about 1/3 the rate it should be at.
That's PATHETIC.
