One thing Bloom proved yesterday..not hesitant
Chaim Bloom was asked by one reporter after the Sonny Gray trade if he thought it may be better to trade Gray at the Winter Meetings vs. today.
Bloom replied that is something you need to use your gut whether waiting could bring something better or not.
If you determine, you like the proposal now then you do the deal.
Doesn't necessarily mean acting early will result in a better deal but it does show he is bold and can pull the trigger .
Some posters felt Bloom may move slowly in this rebuild process. Yesterday should start changing the mindset of those thinking Bloom would take that approach. He publicly stated that they need to be aggressive and get things moving ... the sooner the better.

Definitely seems to be very different than anything they would have contemplated doing in the offseason over the last, well, 20+ years. And given how they've struggled for success over the last decade, that's a welcome change.

It also doesn't allow opposing teams to use the Cardinals as a fallback plan.sikeston bulldog2 wrote: ↑26 Nov 2025 06:34 amIndicates to me they have a plan on paper.mattmitchl44 wrote: ↑26 Nov 2025 06:30 am Definitely seems to be very different than anything they would have contemplated doing in the offseason over the last, well, 20+ years. If they are serious about a player bring a offer that if it matches what is wanted it might get accepted. If you wait or slow foot, the player may be gone.

Good morning to you. Exactly. We seem to have a plan and we seem to go where the plan indicates rather than where the market attempts to push you.renostl wrote: ↑26 Nov 2025 06:53 amNot waiting for the market to develop and come back to you.sikeston bulldog2 wrote: ↑26 Nov 2025 06:49 amI see that. You ever been around a guy haggling over the last $5/ month in a car deal on a car the guy wants?sikeston bulldog2 wrote: ↑26 Nov 2025 06:56 amGood morning to you. Exactly. Sometimes he gets the deal. Sometimes he should have just gave the $5 and went out and celebrated with the bride

I really like that phrase! If you don’t mind, I may borrow that for myself.sikeston bulldog2 wrote: ↑26 Nov 2025 06:49 amI see that. Trade value would not change by winter meetings, only demand for the player. I suspect Bloom shook all the possible trees before he pulled the trigger.ramfandan wrote: ↑26 Nov 2025 06:27 am Chaim Bloom was asked by one reporter after the Sonny Gray trade if he thought it may be better to trade Gray at the Winter Meetings vs. today.
