We have talked about the Cardinals' identity before, certainly when Yadi and Wano were that identity. But now when I think of the Cardinals, I think of Walker and Gorman and that is not a solid identity. The future is unknown even to the point where it might be a good idea to trade them both and move on. Major reset.
It is conflicting to attempt to identify exactly who the Cardinals are and what players represent their identity.

That is part of Bloom’s work this winter. Acquiring players to mold an identity. Im guessing power arms, solid defense, and good contact rate is his preference.
Doyle and the prospect from Boston seem to be indicators. Burleson seems to fit Bloom’s hitter preference. Its no surprise Gorman is available. I look for him to be traded this offseason. And I dont believe its a coincidence Fermin got an extended look after the trade deadline. His contact rate increased. Could be the super utility guy in 2026 once Donovan is traded.
