Quinn Hughes Sweepstakes
Well the firesale that apparently is happening in Vancouver is catching more attention. Gary Mason (who apparently is the mouth piece for the Vancouver Owners) is now saying it is inevitable that the Canucks trade Quinn Hughes. This is an interesting turn of events. Wonder how high the asking price is to acquire a player like that. There are some teams that have the prospect pool that could get into that. Blues would be one of them. But I don't think you would like where that contract goes in terms of money. You would need to have a much more stable roster and direction to handle that.

Why would you want a guy that's planning on leaving to play with his brothers?

He’s going to the Devils. Maybe there is a a year and a half stop somewhere else but long term it’s the Devilscallitwhatyouwant wrote: ↑25 Nov 2025 10:42 am Well the firesale that apparently is happening in Vancouver is catching more attention. I don't see the Blues as a good fit. They would need to dump a couple of veteran players in addition to paying in young players and/or prospects and picks. Then, what are they plugging Hughes into? A team full of holes with fewer resources to fill them. It would only make sense in conjunction with other moves that brought back ready-to-play productive younger talent. Tall order.
Until the Blues re-establish solid production at center I can't believe Hughes would even want to play for them.

The Devils have the pieces to get it done now, or least once Jack is back in the lineup. Canucks should just bite the bullet and make this trade now

Wouldn't even trade Cole, Dags and a 3rd. Dude is going to end up in NJ or the Hughes brothers will end up somewhere together, and it won't be here.

The only teams interested should be teams looking for that last piece to put them over the top immediately. He’s not signing longterm somewhere without his brothers. There would be zero reason for the Blues to do this.

I agree with all of you guys, my opinion is that it's a deal for a short term. Because it's going to be a constant negotiation to compete with the Devils even if you got him to extend. There's always going to be the "if this isn't going well I'd prefer to be with my brothers thing.
Re: Quinn Hughes Sweepstakes
Completely a rental for everyone besides the Devils.

If they take Mailloux, I'd take a year and a half from him, but he is gone after that to Jersey. Outside of getting him for very little, which will not happen, I would only deal for him if you can reach a contract extension pre trade which also will not happen. Likely a team that is going for it will deal for him knowing they will lose him when he hits ufa status.

You can't do an extension with him, or really talk about one. He can't be extended until July 1, 2026. If Vancouver trades him this season, which is what Vancouver absolutely needs to do, then you can't negotiate the extension.clemonsonroots wrote: ↑25 Nov 2025 14:04 pm If they take Mailloux, I'd take a year and a half from him, but he is gone after that to Jersey. I would have to imagine that any GM acquiring him has to believe that 99% he's going to New Jersey, and the only hope is that once you get him there he is either falling in love with your city, or the Devils get stupid and trade one of his brothers. Option B has about a .00002% chance of happening so you better hope for option 1.
Quite frankly this could be Rantanen situation where he gets traded twice in the same NHL season. Once to a team not the Devils and then after the season to the Devils.

I did not know that and yeah, I could see that happening.TheJackBurton wrote: ↑25 Nov 2025 22:36 pmYou can't do an extension with him, or really talk about one.
