Most of you guys are the same apologists that praised MO’s poor trades, deals, and most importantly…..INACTION
If he’s supposed to be dealing and has at least one of the hottest commodities on the market, then waiting for teams to fill whatever need they have is one less team in the market.
“Waiting for the market to establish itself” was one of the most asinine MO quote EVERY offseason….
Make the market….don’t wait for it to be made and half done
“It’s only a couple weeks after the WS”……Tell that to the Rangers and Mets
Yep 22 teams in on Donovan. Take the first offer. Sounds like a good business decision to me.
Are the offers being exchanged via Pony Express??
Well you’re never going to be pleased with what anybody in charge of the cardinals ever so it’s not a surprise. I mean bloom just took over and you are already whining and complaining about him just for making a depth move and for not taking the first trade offer for Donovan so you
Will continue to cry no matter what
Pieces are moving and falling into place……he needs to get in the game before all the chairs are gone…..
You do understand that???
I understand that only an idiot rushes to make moves. He needs to make the best deal possible not the fastest deal possible that would be an idiot move. But I have full faith you will whine and cry no matter what he or anyone else in charge of the cardinals does. In all of baseball there has been very little movement there’s not going to be a lot of movement until the December meetings
Oz I used to think you had a pretty good take on the game……your repetitive “cry no matter what” is lazy and weak…..
Bloom needs to push the matter with his mid level MLB trade chips….dazzle the other party’s……and get it done BEFORE those spots are closed
No one thought the Rangers were offloading…..that maybe closes a couple doors that might have been looking at Cardinals. Why aren’t they waiting???
Apparently Seager on block too….losing partners…perhaps another team comes out tomorrow and wants to dump….more doors closed
Not sure how ya’ll can herald ALL these team wanting a Donovan and THEN claim it’s too early for action……
I thought you had a pretty good take on the game but when you start slamming bloom for signing pozo and comparing him to mo when he just took over the team there are few big moves made until the December meetings when things really start heating up and think he should trade Donovan for the first offer just to get something done instead of getting the best deal possible yea I think you are just complaining just to complain. If I think his offseason sucks I’ll say it at the end of the offseason I’ll give him the offseason before I pass judgment on it I’m not going to slam him over signing pozo and start comparing him to mo because he didn’t make a panic move and trade Donovan for the first offer just because he’s scared
If Bloom is as good as they say…..he should know the teams in play and what they have in their system. He should be the aggressor
Again the MO “waiting for market to materialize” is really “waiting for everyone to fills needs and losing options”

lol no one person knows what every team has in their system and what they are willing to trade for every player you have on your team and also that they wont trade more for those players if you negotiate. Anyone who thinks anyone in baseball has that type of knowledge is delusional, dumb or both
Pozos deal is a major league contract however he has options left so he can be sent down. I see the catching situation going like this.
2026
MLB
Pages 80 games at C
Herrera 80 games at C 80 games at DH
AAA
Crooks
Pozo
AA
Bernal
Rodriquez
I think Bernal will become the catcher of the future.
I think Rodriquez eventually changes positions due to his elite bat.
Bernal is obvious trade bait, or so it seems to me. Crooks seemed baked in.
Our promising catching depth, a rare enough thing, represents a huge advantage in the trade market. Quite unusual.
Strategically approaching his free agency, and then re-signing Pozo made perfect sense. I was frankly surprised we had that opportunity, as his value seemed pretty clear-but the FO had this nailed. That seems to me to be a very good initial marker for Bloom.
IMO, Pages remains in the catching mix with Herrera, who IMO, has a lot to prove. Pitching staff loves Pages-only a fool would ignore that.

A couple weeks after the World Series and we already have the "Bloom is taking too long to make moves" post. It's part of why I love this message board.
I hear ya. If bloom were a bowl movement, someone would have the shites.

The Cardinals and catcher Yohel Pozo are in the final stages of agreeing to a new deal for the 2026 season, Derrick Goold of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports. Pozo was non-tendered by St. Louis on Friday. It’ll presumably be a minor league deal between the two parties.
Pozo, 28, logged 67 games with the Cardinals in 2025 and tallied 188 plate appearances — both career-high marks at the MLB level. He hit just .231/.262/.375 in that time, however — well shy of league-average (even relative to other catchers, where offense is lighter than that of the average position). Pozo delivered a handful of clutch pinch-hits, endearing himself to many in the Cardinals fanbase. He’s now a .248/.278/.376 hitter with six home runs in 245 MLB plate appearances.
Pozo hit well with the Cardinals’ top minor league affiliate in Memphis, albeit in a sample of just five games. He’s a career .321/.343/.525 hitter in Triple-A, with a significant portion of his time spent in an extraordinarily hitter-friendly Las Vegas setting (with the Athletics’ Triple-A club). Pozo draws decent grades for his framing and has regularly posted strong caught-stealing rates in the minor leagues.
While Pozo isn’t going to jump to the top of the depth chart anytime soon, he’ll give the Cards some additional depth along with Jimmy Crooks, Ivan Herrera and Pedro Pages. Pozo has a full slate of minor league options, so if the Cards do add him to the 40-man roster, he can be shuttled freely between St. Louis and Memphis without first needing to be exposed to waivers.
It seems like a strange signing (28-year-old catcher) when this is a so call rebuild year.

I just can’t grasp Herrera as the catcher considering there is better catching talent.

Stay tuned. There will be moves made with the catching pool of players.

A going on 29yr old .231, .637OPS, below league avg 20% CS rate is a great depth signing……when theres 4-5 other catchers being talked about in the ML mix……
Goldfan, if we get to spring training and we still have 5 catchers on our 40 man roster, I'll be right there with you. I'm not making conclusions in late November. When you re-model the kitchen, there is a period of time where things look like a wreck. It's a necessary part of the process. Now, if the contractor tells me he's done and it still looks like a wreck, well...
I've got to believe they're probably shopping Crooks.
Good prospect, but probably lost in the shuffle here. Not good enough defensively to ignore Bernal and his defense, not good enough offensively to overshadow what Rodriguez and Herrera do. Crooks, to me, seems like a catcher who does everything above average, but not "good".

There is no value in a Pozo or Pages when teams can go and find these guys off the street…..
“We have great depth of below avg players”.

Honestly I think the issue here is too many people here have PTSD from looking at the wreck and watching the “contractor” say “we need to let the wreck define itself” only for the contractor to down the road say “we like what we have” whilst staring at that same wreck.
And even though we got a new contractor, everyone is just sitting there begging the dude just to fix the f***ing kitchen, and get this painful process over with
