There are only two bad teams in the NHL

Post by son_of_foolsgold »

Last year's bad teams are playing quite well. Ottawa and Anaheim look really good. Even Chicago has been decent. League parity is way up.
No one is out of the playoff race in the Eastern Conference. Thus far, there have been only 2 truly bad teams.

Unfortunately, one of them is the Blues. And the other bad team has won 2 in a row.

Which 2 teams of the 3 with equal or less points than the Blues are not bad teams? Nashville, Vancouver, Calgary?

They go 50/50 in their OT games and they're 2 points out of 4th in the Division with 60 to play. The fact that they're not dead and buried given how bad they started is amazing. Monty starting to realize Buch/Schenn are 3rd liners for the time being is a big help. Let the top two lines gel and we'll start winning more. Not enough to make the playoffs probably but a lot more respectable than where they are now.

Calgary is the other bad team...thought that was obvious because they are the team than won 2 in a row. Vancouver just beat the Blues about a week ago.

I picture you writing this with a huge grin on your mug and an extra bounce in your step due to the erect feeling you achieve when the Blues suck. I get venting when the team/coaches/management are doing a śhit job, but when basically 101% of your posts are negative while being MIA when they’re playing well, then you may be an extremely insecure and needy peckeřhead, or a clone of ASOGG’s.

Be better my little internet friendfoe.

So if you beat the Blues it makes you a good team?

Blues are not a good team. But they aren't a bad one either. Extremely poor goalie play to start the year was the story for first 12. Last 10 they have a 4-2-4 record (in any other year that wouldn't look bad although it's troubling) and have points in 7 of the last 8. Again if I said those 2 things to you in a vacuum you would be pretty excited. But good teams figure out how to win close games. Blues aren't that. But they aren't a bad team. Squarely in the wait and see stage.

I know its uncomfortable for a lot people to just say wait and see. But why did we do that last year but it's not acceptable this year? Until Lindstein/Stenberg complete the Dvorsky draft and all are up on the big league roster. I am in the we need to see who will be here for that time. I can get excited with guys like Jiricek and Carbs lighting it up. Both guys are PPG in the O right now. those first 2 get up on the big league roster, I'll expect this team to be in a better place. Until then, I can just watch and if effort is there reserve the frustration.

but vancpuver and nashville have been winning less than the blues. just cuz they won 1 game against us doesnt mean they are significabtly bettler than us. if they are good then why do thwir records suck?

The thing about young teams is they always start falling off come January. But I like to watch them when growing.
San Jose has entered the room

The thing about the Blues situation is they have one of the most needed and hardest piece to get for a Cup. A big game goaler.
While they really need top five talent. They are not gonna get it with Binnington in Net. They'll need to trade him. Which id hate to do, for many reasons.

If we beat the Rangers tonight, suddenly this team is 5-3-4 so far through November, with points in each of their last 4 games, at a 58% points percentage, which is the equivalent of a 95 point team.

Loser points inflate records of bad teams. It's ridiculous that 3 points are allotted in any 1 game.
