JMU and NTexas would both be 3-9 with Missouris schedule. Rankings like the CFP, is all about records and not the best team.

Well, if it's any consolation the Omaha World Herald's sportswriter Sam McKewon says he voted us #23 this week.

The computers like Missouri a lot so that gives them a solid floor in the rankings. The problem is their ceiling. CFN has them at 19 but says "We don't punish great losses, but it would be nice to have at least one win over a team that will go bowling."

The key words in your OP are "this week." How many weeks over the last five years have any of those teams out ranked MU? One? Two?

A couple of years ago we ended up higher ranked than OSU. Does that mean Ryan Day can't coach?

Vanderbilt actually has a good team. A good SEC team.

SEC is a gauntlet, toughest conference by far. For decades UGA teams loaded with talent came up just short, notably against Florida or Alabama. Mizzou needs to keep investing in their team and facilities. Portal and NIL are opportunities to land talent. The league is becoming uber-competitive as it expands and brings in more solid programs. Programs that drop back can quickly get buried.

UNT only has one loss and has crushed lesser teams. But the one loss is a home game loss to South Florida 63-36.

He has a point. But if Miss State, Auburn, and Kansas pull off major upsets it’ll not only give Mizzou 3 wins over teams bowling, it’ll have seismic implications on the playoffs.

Mizzou would open as healthy favorites against 2 of them and the Vanderbilt line would be 3 points for which team is at home.
