Texier may be headed to Montreal...
According to Elliotte Friedman. Termination of contract by the Blues and will be able to sign anywhere.

Yeah, that was a waste of a signing for this team. I think they have injuries.
Re: Texier may be headed to Montreal...
It was a worthwhile gamble, he showed flashes of high end skill in Columbus. Joseph won the battle in training camp and Dvorsky leapfrogged both of them since being recalled.
Blue Jackets' fans were 100% on the dot when they said he always leaves you wanting to see a bit more.
Good on Tex for being a good pro, no matter what you're making it can't be easy to sit for long stretches.

It makes you appreciate how good these guys are and how fine the line is between being an NHLer and a minor leaguer. So much of it is timing and having a skill/dynamic the teams are looking for.

Absolutely, well said.
Re: Texier may be headed to Montreal...
I think a lot of making and being part of a team is how well one meshes with the guys in the room. That's doubled on a sheet of ice.
If he could fine some comfort and decided to give his all everyday. He can be a asset for a team. He has the skill. I just don't know if he has it in him.
I can't see him playing in Montreal. That team is filled with a bunch of confident guys having fun. Again. I don't think that's in him.

Re: Texier may be headed to Montreal...
I read where 9 teams were interested in him,so,my question is, why couldn't we have just traded him?
Re: Texier may be headed to Montreal...
LOL...Montreal just broke their 5 game losing streak last night against the lowly Leafs. They looked good last night, but they weren't having fun the past two weeks.
They just brought up Florian Xhekaj, Arber's younger brother who plays LW. They could give Texier a shot, but he would end up being in the same position in a couple of weeks when Kirby Dach comes back.
Not sure where he'll end up. Tough break for the kid.

I think your second paragraph is the trap the GMs fall in. They think “we can fix him”Cahokanut wrote: ↑23 Nov 2025 14:45 pm I think a lot of making and being part of a team is how well one meshes with the guys in the room. That's doubled on a sheet of ice.

Yeah the issue wasn’t that nobody thought he was worth a shot, but that nobody thought he was worth a shot at 2.1M. That’s why he terminated his contract, so that he could sign somewhere for less. Basically the same situation Saad was in last year. Teams were interested in the player but not the contract.

Seems to be the only way Armstrong can get rid of his bad contracts.

Re: Texier may be headed to Montreal...
To be fair, both times that Armstrong got players out this way, it was a mutual choice. Both stand to make more over the course of their career by banking on themselves by playing NHL games, and more importantly for Texier he gets to continue playing in the NHL for the next 4-6 weeks (Dach comes back most likely at that point, causing a reduction in ice time). The problem they'll have is he still can't really play center that well. Which is where they are down to 3 NHL caliber centers right now and a bunch of 30% faceoff meh defensive guys.
Good luck to him, a shame he couldn't play center much for us because i think that drastically changes his outcome here, but it is what it is.

or worth a shot at 2.1 million plus sending an asset attached.bluetunehead wrote: ↑23 Nov 2025 19:13 pmYeah the issue wasn’t that nobody thought he was worth a shot, but that nobody thought he was worth a shot at 2.1M. but at 1 mil hes basically free. if he sucks, they can waive him and either hes claimed frim them at no loss or his entire cap hit js buriable in ahl if he isnt. at 2.1 million, thebentire cap hit isnt buriable. thats notnideak for reclamation projects
