The Cardinals won't consider that because it does not really fit with what they envision.
That said, it is an interesting article and certainly something some teams might consider.
After all, more and more teams are simply asking starters to cover only 5 innings.
Converting a reliever - particularly one with Hesley's history (very effective minor league starter), frame (built like a starter, certainly), and 3-pitch arsenal (he can throw a curveball) - might be worth the risk.

No dupshit
They should make him 2-way like Ohtani and also put him at cleanup. He can close on his off days too! Him and Burly at #3 would be unstoppable!

Good lord. No. You are allowed to apply a little critical thinking.

With his injury history I doubt Helsley could make it the ASG w/o hitting the IL.

and if he did make it, he'd be exhausted/spent b/c he hadn't pitched that amount of innings in 8 years. We need innings, the OP is inane....we don't need a guy only able to pitch 3-4 innings per outing, then shut down periodically throughout the year because of fatigue.

K. Leahy is going to be a long shot to make it as a starter but at least he's got a shot, Helsley is a Hail Mary/Moon Shot!
