We have no idea of what the options were at the time decisions were made. The question of "Is Broberg a player you build around?" is a dumb one. Broberg is not a generational player. He is not expected to shoulder the majority of his position at a young age, as he will be 25 when he signs his next deal. That is not a question the Blues or any team looking at him is asking. "Does Philip Broberg fit in what your long term plan is for the Blues?". THAT is the the question Army is asking, and the answer is "YES". If you say "NO", then you are looking at trading him. You will NEVER get value out of that trade in the next 3-5 years. He will get either a bridge in which if he pans out, he'll get paid HUGE, or he'll get 8-9ish x 8. I'd rather give him 8.5 and take the gamble that if he underperforms the deal, the rising cap won't make it too much of an overpayment.

Look at Buchnevich. Doug was taking offers on him up until the trade deadline in 2024. He had offers. We will NEVER know what it was for. People with an agenda will say he was offered quality for him but wanted the moon. The normal return is a JAG and a pick, usually a late one. People here would have been calling for his head had we flipped him for a JAG and a pick at the deadline. Don't forget Buch had 25 points in the final 22 games the following year to make the playoffs. We miss, and Bleedr starts screaming about 3 YEARS NO PLAYOFFS!!! BUCH HAD 60 POINTS FOR XYZ TEAM!!!! WE GOT A JAG AND A LOTTERY TICKET!!!! FIRE ARMY NOW!!! Could you imagine if they let him walk and got nothing?????

The best is the disingenuous BLOW IT UP NOW crowd. If that's what you HONESTLY want to see, why are you so angry right now?? This is what you want to see, most likely for the next 5-10 years. or 20. You should be supporting the hell out of this. Grab the pleated skirt and pom poms. Top 5 SUPERHUMAN talent available. If due to injury or underperformance whatever, we end up there. I'm ok with it.

Something is wrong in that locker room. Is it Kyrou? Is it Schenn? This team needs to figure that out, and fix it. Period. The coach is going nowhere. It's up to the players and with Alex taking over, there is less loyalty because Steen has no responsibility for any of this. Get it fixed.
