Dvorsky's defense
Anyone else impressed by how much better he has become defensively. I thought he might become a little better but he has become really good.
Re: Dvorsky's defense
I still hold my early impressions of him as an ROR style center.

So does that mean you think he will be better, equal or worse than Thomas. I thought Thomas was really going to take it to the next level this year but he actually has been pretty disappointing for his talent level
Re: Dvorsky's defense
Thomas has been injured this season and he's also been dealing with power outages on wing.StLouis-4Life2 wrote: ↑22 Nov 2025 16:00 pm So does that mean you think he will be better, equal or worse than Thomas. Dvorsky and Thomas are two different styles of center. Thomas is clearly the better playmaker, Dvorsky has a better shot. They are both good defensively and in transition though Thomas is much better carrying the puck.

His effort and awareness both stood out today.

Re: Dvorsky's defense
He's a complete 200' center. He'll develop into a complete player all over the ice. He's a building block. I was excited this summer because I knew this full ability of player was imminent, and some other quality is imminent, which is why the vet core has been so disappointing so far.
If Thomas can actually get going suddenly the team could be a lot better in its results because Dvorsky is anchoring a line.

We will see I guess (in the short term). The more relevant you and your team become…and as the season progresses, the more you have to fight and take abuse…while giving it back.seattleblue wrote: ↑22 Nov 2025 17:22 pm He's a complete 200' center. Re: Dvorsky's defense
Guess I wasn't watching him as closely as the rest of you because I didn't think he was going to become a 200 ft center but I sure do now. I just thought he had a good shot and would score 25-35 goals with another 25-35 assists. Also, had no idea he would be as good as he has been on faceoffs

Re: Dvorsky's defense
Very encouraging to see. When he was drafted, the scouting reports focused on his 2 way game, so it's great to see that pedigree begin to transition to the NHL level. His defense might be coming along faster than his offense.
Re: Dvorsky's defense
He's really starting to play a complete game and compliments Buch and Schenn nicely. He actually struggled some on the faceoffs and was 3FW and 6FL at one point, but he ended up strong at the end with 6FW 6FL, 50%.
I like his game. He's only going to get better.

Re: Dvorsky's defense
I watched a handful of Springfield games last season and he looks better against NHLers now than he looked against AHLers last year. He’s been making smart plays and passes on the tape for a few games now but he also won quite a few battles today.

Re: Dvorsky's defense
I am pretty sure the analogy I used with him this summer, and MN concurred, Dvorsky is like a sculpture that he is slowly carving away all the finished pieces but what was underneath it all along was the stuff to be the beautiful statue. MN and I were fretting that this "lack of emergence" was going to be misread by fans as he doesn't have the stuff. He very much has the stuff.

Hate to think we turned a number ten pick into Sunny with a shot.StLouis-4Life2 wrote: ↑22 Nov 2025 15:07 pm Anyone else impressed by how much better he has become defensively. I thought he might become a little better but he has become really good.
The best defense is a hard working offense. Not a third defender. Blues [fork]ing up another prospect.
Re: Dvorsky's defense
I'm very impressed with DD's play to date on both ends of the ice. So far I'd say the Blues have handled his development correctly, holding him back for the right time to bring him up.
I'd call his progression from last year to this year pretty amazing.

The confidence in the the face-off circle is great to see.
