Poll Question

Post by dhsux »

For those who want to play......

Blues are 8 points out of 3rd in Central at nearly the quarter year. Lot's of doom and gloom around here, I get it and agree with a lot of it, but I remain curious on what more of the board is thinking than the vocal 'gloomers.

We all have our reasons BUT....If you can..... a simple yes or no.

Will the Blues make the play offs this year?

For me it remains YES.

To me it’s out of their hands. Yes they can make up the ground in a vacuum, but if a couple teams get hot it’s no longer in their control.

Definitive no. It’s one thing to lose but the Blues look completely incoherent. Breakdown after breakdown after breakdown. Nearly every veteran not named Faulk is underperforming. It’s totally unrealistic that all of our forwards magically start putting up points and it’s clear we’re at least 1 veteran minute munching defensemen away from a solid group. Those problems don’t get fixed overnight.

No. I have said for years Thomas and Kyrou are not going to lead a team anywhere. They are good players but not leaders. Schenn has done what he could but he can't contribute much anymore and everybody knows it. No killer instinct or swagger on this team 2019 team had swagger.

The Isles fan posting on a Blues forum, once again shows what his colors are.

I will say no. They are still building and as I posted before the season started, I will not be disappointed if they don't make the playoffs. To be fair, I didn't see them being this bad though and at this point, I'm ok with getting a top 5 pick. I just want them to play with some passion. This team lacks. that element. It shows in the standings. It shows in their starts. It shows all over the ice.

This^ it’s time to start the youth rebuild. The vets are playing like they should be on the 4th line, and not leading this team.

Short answer, yes. Long answer, yes because after watching NHL hockey this long, this team is not getting the results that they should be getting. More confusing answer, why. We could be anywhere better in the standings with this team. So far, my old man knowledge hasn't slapped me in the face with the total answer.

Same.

I've said since early on that I didn't believe Thomas was a true number 1 center that would lead this team.
Thomas is fine on line 2.
Kyrou I have no idea. Skilled player. When he applies himself and plays 200 ft for 60 min, he's great. We don't see enough of that.

The Blues still need a skilled number 1 center.

When the season started I thought they would be close to a 100 pts team and make the PO's. Now I don't feel the same. Even though they are only 2 Wins out of a spot I just don't see the chemistry they will need to win 2 out of every 3 games. They need to win 2 out of 3 from here on out and I don't think they can do it.

That's a tough one but I'll go with yes. Nearly the whole team has not been playing to their ability. They look like are starting to come out of their funk. If the do they can rip off a lot of wins. This is not a team that's going to get a top 5 pick.

No.
My guess for the reason why is.

The Blues got off to a very poor start this year and my thinking is that the Top 3 teams in the Central Division will be.

Again my Guess .

The Avalanche will be 1st , The Dallas Stars 2nd, The Jets will finish 3rd.this year in the Central Division.

So the only way the Blues will get in, like last year
will have to be as a Wild Card Team , if they can make it.

But with the Blues poor start this year and there are new Teams on the rise this year, like the Kracken, The Ducks and the Mammoth and even the Blackhawks and the improve Sharks and this doesn,t include the Wild, who made it in as a Wild card team, like the Blues did at the very end of last year it is going to be very tough to do .

So. There is now this year a Ton of parity in the Western Conference now .

So beating these new Teams this year on the rise, will not be easy and with all the parity this year .

Getting in as the 1st or 2nd Wild card team to get in, is going to be alot tougher this year then it was last year.

So again my wild (donkey) guess is No.

I hope I am wrong..

Totally agree. There’s no path to being competitive without your “top guys” carrying the scoring load and that’s certainly not happening. I do hope they win some more since I decided to only post after wins since the trolls love to post so much after losses. And unlike said trolls (“for the good of the board” “I’ll stop posting if…”) I do stick to the deals I make

It sure seems so.

The Blues have a knack for snatching defeat from the jaws of victory late in games and it's been happening as long as I can remember.

Different decades, different teams, different players. Same choke late in games.

I'm gonna vote yes

It's completely counterintuitive to what we're seeing which is what the Blues are.

It's a gel-able team and they will gel and get going and the Central is gettable this season
