Traded, before free-agent status in a non-playoff year for pick that became Barbashev.
Subsequently, Oilers traded him, Penguins traded him, picked by Vegas in expansion.
Later he signed contracts with DeadWings and Senators.
- drafted him and subsequently signed to a couple contracts
- traded to EDM (lost him #1)
- signed him as UFA again in 2016
- picked by VGK in expansion in 2017 (lost him #2)
- Signed him as UFA again in 2018 and won cup
- Let him walk as UFA in 2022 (lost him #3)
And, I dig Perron, post white skates rookie year.

Re: Perron
Favorite player ever.
At this point I actually don't wish it on him but I wish he were the next Federko for us. He is super engaging as a commentator he could easily be a studio guy. But to join the televised production of the Blues is to join the worst hockey production I have ever seen. I could step into the booth and be better than Kerber right now. And I haven't called games in 30+ years.

There is little doubt your call would be the more trenchant call. Your challenge would be to match Kerb's high-testosterone "Fraternity Brother at the Reunion" level of back-slapping bluster and restrained chortling.seattleblue wrote: ↑22 Nov 2025 11:04 am Favorite player ever.

John Kelly was like having a beloved John Candy character- perhaps even a Yosh Shmenge- calling the games as your adorable Uncle.

But, not for that awfully long. Like Hull, and many other offensive wizards... he learned and applied those skills which win playpoff games. Both of them won Cups only after they did so.netboy65 wrote: ↑22 Nov 2025 09:04 amHe was the 00’s version of Kyroublues2112 wrote: ↑21 Nov 2025 19:36 pmFair points.TruBlueFan_1970 wrote: ↑21 Nov 2025 18:54 pmTrue, but to me, that is still letting him go or losing him. Not even close to the same player. Perron always showed more emotion and liked to get his hands dirty.netboy65 wrote: ↑22 Nov 2025 09:04 amHe was the 00’s version of Kyroublues2112 wrote: ↑21 Nov 2025 19:36 pmFair points.TruBlueFan_1970 wrote: ↑21 Nov 2025 18:54 pmTrue, but to me, that is still letting him go or losing him. Eh, not even referring to that. I meant more of a highly skilled player that was despised by a large portion of the fanbasetheograce wrote: ↑22 Nov 2025 13:12 pmNot even close to the same player.
