95% Chance Drink Leaves

Post by TheSolution »

He knows he inherited a built culture, the foundation of the house.

He knows he’s benefited from nice scheduling and good fortune

He knows the schedule and luck is about to run out

He will effectively flip his time here into a higher income and he will take it.

He is as good as gone.

I’ll be a fictitious farm he doesn’t go anywhere.

I don’t know how you go to a place where they’ll burn you in a heartbeat if their unrealistic expectations aren’t met.

At Mizzou, expectations are high, but very fair. And he’s paid VERY well.

Drink would be stupid to leave Mizzou. He has hit the sweet spot between money, life and pressure. This schedule stuff is silly. He’ll have tough schedules elsewhere. Will he leave every time he hits a bump in the road? Men don’t do that.

"I don’t know how you go to a place where they’ll burn you in a heartbeat if their unrealistic expectations aren’t met". Short answer, a huge payout if fired before end of contract.

You’re right but it’s not because of his paycheck

It’s funny every Saturday to listen to the different announcers talk about what Drinkwitz has built at Mizzou. I bet it stings the OP every time.

I get that, but he’s young enough he’s probably seeing himself as a hall of fame type coach. Make a bad career decision and he can kiss that goodbye. He’d be wealthy, but have to fight his way for many years back to the top.

Stay at Mizzou, see it through, while making a boatload of money.

Of course I have no idea what the man is thinking…..but

some guys see winning a national title as life’s goal.

where can he realistically achieve that…Penn St, LSU, Florida or Mizzou?

Kiffin is likely thinking the same … Florida, L S U or Oxford ?

There are very few destination jobs….and only so many opportunities..

stop responding to this butthurt idiot who knows literally nothing about CFB. Reminds me of the SEC short episode of the Bama fan despite all of Saban's NC's and success still pines for the missed opportunity of having RichRod for their HC. LOL check it out on YouTube it's hilarious. He was headed there when some minor incident derailed it. Fallback position was NICK f**king Saban. How did that work out?

Should Mizzou "bump up" his $9.2 million? That's a lot of tickets. That's at least a couple games worth of gross ticket sales each year. Granted he has filled the seats. A few years ago it would have taken the whole year's worth of ticket sales to pay that salary. At least we are in the mid-level of the SEC. We win at a high rate. Fans seem happy. I am. We just haven't beaten the really good teams. As said above, can we be expected to compete with the top of the league? I think Drink has gotten us to the point where we're competitive enough to break through if we catch lighting in the bottle. We have good players & if we could play our A game & maybe Bama, etc. plays their A- game we win. We've been close. Drink seems to be a great recruiter, but gameday decisions have been questioned. The RockM crew blasted the play calls & strategy of the A&M game. How far should we go to keep Drink? With NIL, etc. how much more can we squeeze out of donors? Are we irreparably damaged if he goes?

Question #1 is....can they find some one better? Serious doubts there for me so....Missouri will be set back, imo, if they loose him.

There's that but my contention is he really is building something here and it takes time and I want to see what he can come up with for next years "class". He's a recruiting coach that can step up to the tougher schedule ahead.

Basically, I see him as a coach that will get the program to a point to win the big games. He's doing that now, meaning he's in that process.

Big game Drink isn't going anywhere, he already has a top #10 salary. and is lucky enough to be at a university that doesn't expect top #10 results for their money.

"His record against teams with a winning record in conference play since arriving at Mizzou? 0-15."

"The Missouri Tigers have been the beneficiaries of the scheduling gods being very benevolent towards them"

"a disaster waiting to happen."

"It's like hiring a 12-year MLB vet hitting .250"

https://www.outkick.com/sports/penn-sta ... anklin-2-0

Personally I hope another university is dumb enough to take that top #10 salary, and write Mizzou a $5 million buy out check but its not happening.
