Adding Fairbanks, Maton, a starter, a bat plus the t-ball players
Adding a couple of veterans could assist the t-ball children who will soon overrun the Cards roster for next season.
The Cards still need some major leaguers to show the children how the professionals go about a 162 season.
The Cards can still lose 100 games as they hope for a solid top draft pick, however, they need to win a few games!
A small amount of quality homegrown veterans could be of great help on the team!

This actually brings up a good point I hadn't much thought of. If Nado goes, Gray goes, and Donovan goes, then what veterans are left to lead this team and show everyone the ropes. You have Willy C and while I like his fire, he's not exactly "role model" material.

I've been saying I don't like the idea of trading Donovan (I'll accept if it happens) for two reasons, one of course is he's a good player but the other is he's really the only leader left (after Gray, Willie and Arenado). Losing his leadership may hurt worse then losing his on field performance.TraveledLessRoad wrote: ↑21 Nov 2025 12:50 pm This actually brings up a good point I hadn't much thought of. We act as if this is Burger King and we can choose off the menu and have it our way. I mean, we rule.

Not really, Burger King says "we do it your way". Here we say "I wish they'd do it my way"sikeston bulldog2 wrote: ↑21 Nov 2025 13:14 pm We act as if this is Burger King and we can choose off the menu and have it our way. I mean, we rule.

It might hurt less if we have a manager that did that job, but...well....HorseTrader wrote: ↑21 Nov 2025 13:08 pmI've been saying I don't like the idea of trading Donovan (I'll accept if it happens) for two reasons, one of course is he's a good player but the other is he's really the only leader left (after Gray, Willie and Arenado). another point of view is this forces someone else to step up --- clears the deck for some of the young guys to take a leadership role? Do minor league teams not have guys/leaders other players look up to?HorseTrader wrote: ↑21 Nov 2025 13:08 pmI've been saying I don't like the idea of trading Donovan (I'll accept if it happens) for two reasons, one of course is he's a good player but the other is he's really the only leader left (after Gray, Willie and Arenado). They could sign Rick Ankiel to make another comeback. He hung out with the 2013 Astros for a bit to help out the young guys.

this would then be JoJo Romero's team?TraveledLessRoad wrote: ↑21 Nov 2025 12:50 pm This actually brings up a good point I hadn't much thought of. I wouldn't be surprised if Masyn Winn starts to fill in that gap.

So get rid of the ones they know...Gray, Nado and WillyCon, and replace them with ones they don't...Cardly wrote: ↑21 Nov 2025 12:39 pm Adding a couple of veterans could assist the t-ball children who will soon overrun the Cards roster for next season.

They aren't trading veterans for veterans unless maybe Arenado if that's what it takes to move him.
