I mean yeah, I don't even know how that isn't immediately called on the ice.

Funny how Roy is screaming about this when his boy Lemieux did about the same thing to Draper in 1996. Guess his memory isn't what it used to be.

I don't have the rule number off hand although I believe it's a recent rule change; There shall be no call regarding goaltender interferience; No instance of goaltender interferience shall be called because the goaltender could not have stopped the puck from entering the net anyway.

if there is such a rule, it's a dumb rule. How can a human decide whether or not a puck can and will be stopped.Blues Dave wrote: ↑19 Nov 2025 14:17 pm I don't have the rule number off hand although I believe it's a recent rule change; There shall be no call regarding goaltender interferience; No instance of goaltender interferience shall be called because the goaltender could not have stopped the puck from entering the net anyway.
I've seen numerous goals scored that most senior citizens with bad backs could have saved, and I've seen just as many that had about .000001% save probability being stopped just because it nibbled the knob of a goaltenders stick.
It's a rule that should be black and white and not open to any form of interpretation.
Skate in the blue paint, interferes in anyway with the goaltenders ability to save a puck (whether it can be saved or not), not forced in and not pushed, and goaltender doesn't initiate contact should be goaltender interference.
The moment you leave it up to interpretation, especially when there is a potential penalty called for challenging, it simply can not be left up to someone's not playing the game deciding if a save can be made or not.
