Why is Kessel playing over Skinner? Could Hunter Skinner be any worse than 51 ?

Where are the young guys in OT? Oh, that’s right we play the vets who are 0 for in OT. Dr. Ott? Give me a break. I’m starting to wonder about Monty’s decisions.
It's Monty. He's so fickle. He's lost and he is hurting the team. Set some lines and let them gel. 3rd and 4th lines are getting wayyy too much playing time as well. They are complimentary and are supposed to give top lines rest. He uses them because he is confused and has no idea what he's doing.

Have to respectfully disagree. Look at the ice time for tonight’s game. Frankly, this team could stand to play the Walkers and Josephs of the world a couple of minutes more and let 89 ride the pine pony a bit. FFS.

Did you see Ott and Monty scratching their heads at the start of OT? They had NO IDEA of who to put out there.

I get what you are saying but those are lesser lines. You win with your more talented lines. If you play those lines all day long, you have no offensive production. Points win games. Those lines have use, but not primary lines. They should spark the team and get a goal here and there but they are not your bread and butter. There's a reason why they are 3rd and 4th line guys. All speed and grit but they lack talent.

Monty was a less than talented guy. It seems to me that he coaches the same way. You have guys like Snuggy and Dvo. Thommer as well. This team has more talent than the Sutter brothers of the 80s. It needs to be used better.

The guys you listed were the #1 powerplay unit tonight. He’s using the skill players but they simply aren’t producing enough. Buch is supposed to be a skill guy. Same with Kyrou, Holloway, Schenn, etc. Collectively that group scored as much as the grinders did tonight.

Obviously we don’t know what the conversation was at that moment, but it was a really odd look of uncertainty/disbelief on their faces.

Yes, that's possible. Really, one guy or the other won't move the needle significantly upward right now, but Kessel has much more experience and might be deemed more reliable.

Granted OT is hectic and there may have been a partial change but any player knows you don't all 3 go after the puck and leave the other two unguarded. Doesn't matter "whose guy" it was- you see somebody going after him you pick up one of the other guys. That can't be coaching- why would you have to coach that?

These guys are just hockey dumb or have tuned out. They picked up the pace and surprisingly did not blow the game in the second but lose their minds in OT.

Part of the problem does has to be Monty, Ott, and the other coaches. I'm open to any change now- could backfire but this is unwatchable and embarrassing.

Army needs to pull a Billy Beane and trade Buch for garbage. Anything to force Monty not to play the guy.

Though it’s Army’s fault he’s here to begin with, so that’s not overlooked
I will never forget Army and his clown army making all the excuses NOT to trade Buch saying there was no market for him. Ok so why give him a dumb[ash] extension ffs!?

I just watched the game on replay, the only real positive: what a nice broadcast TSN has.

Seriously the Blues don’t even make it to OT if the other team doesn’t score on themselves. Remember all the early season complaining about bad luck?

Also, the Blues are sucking this bad while almost healthy. Their relative good health, again several years running, is impressive considering how many vets they ice.

Second positive: Blues are losing despite improved goaltending (kind of a positive)
