MU should seriously consider...

Post by JackBolly »

...leaving the SEC. MSSt is an absolute trash team with a gimmick coach. Yet it was quickly obvious this was to be Leeby's coming out party and get MSSt bowl eligible. I no longer have any idea what targeting is on someone running the ball. I no longer have any idea what intentional grounding is. I still have not seen any other team other than MU called for tripping twice in a game. And it goes on, and on, and on. So much so that it cannot be a coincidence.

B1G would be ideal fit - Iowa, Nebraska, Illinois, Northwestern, Wisconsin, Indiana and Minnesota are regional.

Conferences will cease to exist in 15 years so it is a moot point. The riff in the Big 10 with Michigan and USC threatening to leave are just the ripples to bigger waves coming. Teams that wield the power are not going to want to share with lower teams in these mega conferences. At the current rate many teams athletic departments will be in the deep red and will start having to sell out to private equity to fund their lifestyle. The PE companies that own the elite teams will want to start making their own media contracts, and the explosion will begin. There is no way a team like Minnesota should be paid the same as Ohio State when nobody wants to watch them on play.

1. Human beings have biases.

2. Refs are human beings.

Many in the SEC still see the Tigers as interlopers. We're not in the deep south--we're not even in the south. We're not a traditional SEC team. And we're not the kind of name-brand that demands respect.

But...

The Tigers are not leaving the SEC. So get used to it.

After all, facing this kind of adversity builds character. If you accept it, and use it as motivation, instead of letting it grate on you, it makes you stronger.

Maybe so, but the B1G doesn't want us.

Too cold in the B1G (although Cali is nice). More fun to go to Southern locales. My college friends want us back in the B12 especially without TX & OU.

I'd be in favor of that. IMO we never belonged in the SEC.

But that's never going to happen.

Mississippi State is not trash. They beat Arizona State who beat Texas Tech, who’s looking like a lock for the playoff.

They also barely lost to Tennessee and Texas. A couple breaks for them and they’d have come into our game 7-3 or maybe 8-2 and ranked.

There are literally no bad teams in the SEC right now. The “bad” like Arkansas, SC, Florida, Miss State are capable of beating the top teams any given day. Lots of parity.

At this juncture and any I can possibly see in the near future Missouri University should NOT consider to leave the SEC.

We are in the best possible place and some are wanting a return to the dumpster fire that is the Big 12? Or want to play Rutgers, Maryland and UCLA?

I apologize to dumpster fires by comparing them to the Big 12 earlier. I'm sorry.

Mizzou is an undisciplined team and the word is out. Simple as that. I don’t agree with all the calls but you have to help yourself too, and Mizzou is not doing that.

I meant to add that it is the anti-Gary Pinkel. Pinkel's teams could be beaten but they never beat themselves. Always one of the best in the country in fewest penalties and turnover differential.

Since its inception into the SEC in 2012, Mizzou has the 8th-best record of all SEC teams. They are 71-44 w/ a .620 Win % under Drink. This is better than the overall below. They can obviously compete in the SEC; they just have not made it over the hump yet. The SEC schedule leads to some very exciting matchups ups and the SEC also helps with recruiting, as it is the elite of the elite. There is zero reason to leave. You don't run away from your problems; you meet them head-on.

All-time SEC football records (2012–2024)
Team Overall Record Win %
Alabama 158–21 .883
Georgia 141–34 .805
LSU 113–50 .693
Texas A&M* 104–55 .654
Ole Miss 95–62 .605
Florida 95–66 .590
Auburn 89–68 .567
Missouri* 85–71 .545
Mississippi State 83–71 .539
Kentucky 83–78 .516
Tennessee 80–79 .503
South Carolina 77–81 .487
Vanderbilt 66–94 .413
Arkansas 60–93 .392
