Excellent statement. Card fans should not be confused about the end game - division and WS are the goals. Just being competitive is not an option. Means he will be going for quality and not quantity via dumpster diving, etc.

Those changes may come after 2026. Bloom has only signaled marmol and staff finishing their current contracts.

And I believe Presti not only has a championship, but also still has a crazy amount of draft capital (three 1st round picks in 2026; three 1st round picks in 2027; three 2nd round picks in 2028; two 1st round picks in 2029; four 2nd picks in 2029; four 2nd round picks in 2030; etc.) over the next several years with which to keep it going.

Why get rid of them now? Next season and perhaps the following season are likely to be interrupted by a work stoppage. Why pay a new manager (and waste that much or their contract tenure) during that mess?

Additionally, why pay a new manager to manage a rebuilding season? Wait until the new "core" is ready\near-ready to be unleashed on the baseball world and then hire the best available manager to fit that specific group of players?

Unless there is a manager Bloom really, really can't live without, there is no sense replacing the current ML manager\coaching staff.

The early returns on Bloom vs latter-day Mozeliak represent the difference between a POBO with a vision for what a mid-tier team needs in order to make serious playoff runs versus someone in year-to-year KLO mode (aka, "what is 'just enough' to amass ~ 84-85 victories and see what happens?") looks like.

Correct Mo said it was to get into the playoffs and to see what could happen. This is why we haven't been there for years. If you shoot low, you will land lower.

May sound like him, but Presti made trades for actual talent and real usable draft picks, not just random prospects that another team was tired of. Bloom has a lot of work to do before he can be considered in the same breath as Presti.
