Pertinent to this discussion. Some interesting trade speculation. https://www.msn.com/en-us/sports/mlb/5- ... 826c4&ei=6

none of them play for the Cardinals....why would we trade for them?Shady wrote: ↑13 Nov 2025 11:01 am Pertinent to this discussion.https://www.msn.com/en-us/sports/mlb/5- ... 826c4&ei=6

"Keep doubting, if you choose, like many on CT do. You'll see. If given the opportunity, Burleson will put up 1B worthy offensive numbers."
IF Burelson can produce like Matt Olson or C Walker then Cardinals win. IF not then his play is just another deficit on the team. Time will tell.

Would 25 HRs, 85 RBIs be enough production at 1B? Burleson is capable of that.ilcubuffs wrote: ↑13 Nov 2025 11:13 am "Keep doubting, if you choose, like many on CT do. You'll see. If given the opportunity, Burleson will put up 1B worthy offensive numbers."

Seriously if you are going to trade the next Gwynn/Votto you'd better get a huge return. That's why the only logical answer is Drew Rom, the next John Tudor. Get on the phone with yourself and make it happen, Bloom.

21 HR, 18 HR ....that doesn't lead to 25 HR....78 RBI, 69 RBI....that doesn't lead to 85 RBI....he's trending down, regressing....and he's heading into your made up Prime....what are we to do?Shady wrote: ↑13 Nov 2025 11:17 amWould 25 HRs, 85 RBIs be enough production at 1B? Not as rough as for you with Burleson winning the Silver Slugger Award. Who would have thunk it? Those aren’t “prime Joey Votto” numbers. What gives? I mean, you just told us earlier in this thread that you “haven’t been wrong” about Burleson.Shady wrote: ↑13 Nov 2025 11:17 amWould 25 HRs, 85 RBIs be enough production at 1B? Hmmmm, I missed the Cards granting Rom FA. Do you think Bloom would accept Robberse instead? Or would he have to go with Roby? Bloom can be a tough negotiator.craviduce wrote: ↑13 Nov 2025 11:21 amShady has a had a rough 7 days....Munoz and Rom booted from the Roster/Organization....terrible time for Shady.Mort Gage wrote: ↑13 Nov 2025 11:20 amcraviduce wrote: ↑13 Nov 2025 11:02 amnone of them play for the Cardinals....why would we trade for them?Shady wrote: ↑13 Nov 2025 11:01 am Pertinent to this discussion.https://www.msn.com/en-us/sports/mlb/5- ... 826c4&ei=6![]()

If Bloom could somehow trade Fedde for Burleson...that would be an equal trade. Try not to think about the Elephant in the room....no not that Elephant, don't body shame Burley....I'm talking about Fedde not being on the roster.Mort Gage wrote: ↑13 Nov 2025 11:32 amHmmmm, I missed the Cards granting Rom FA. I bet Bloom could pull off a trade like that.

That's an interesting suggestion. It just seems Burleson has been much more consistent than Liberatore has been.

Libby just turned 26 years old, it seems to take (most) young lefty starters a bit more time before they figure things out.
He only made 53 MLB starts, hopefully he has more upside.
And for the record Burly has just begun to "figure things out" himself the past two years after struggling in 2022 & 2023:
Here’s Burleson’s wRC+ in the majors courtesy of Bernie, year by year:
* 2022: 56, or 44 percent below league average offensively.
* 2023: 89, or 11% below league average.
* 2024: 106, or 6% above league average.
* 2025: 124, which is 24% above league average for offense
