Blues need to play at a 105 point pace...
...for the rest of the season to make the playoffs. (I used 98 points as my bogey for "this is what they need to make the playoffs", based on how competitive the Western Conference is again this year.)
So - how do you all handicap the odds of that happening? We've seen what can happen if this team gets its [shirt] together.
I'd say 40% yes/60% no. With the caveat that I'm a bit of a homer, not to mention the fact that I would be a terrible sports gambler if I was even remotely interested in sports gambling.

Why do you want them to sneak into the playoffs. For what?
GM’s don’t want that

Re: Blues need to play at a 105 point pace...
As of 11/12/25, only 5 teams out of 32 have a record below .500 (4 of those in the Western Conference). I don't think a 2nd half, "Gloria"-like run is going to cut it this year. Need that 12 game winning streak asap.
Re: Blues need to play at a 105 point pace...
I'd say what is more likley is that at some point they play at a 150 point pace for a short time and things even up but I'm not sure that happens if they don't sure up that 3rd paring....which is a pretty stupid reason to have a bad year.

So you're saying there's a chance!

Re: Blues need to play at a 105 point pace...
I either want them to pull through and make the playoffs, or make some big trades and position the team for success in the future. Playoffs are fun. That's kind of why I'm asking the question...how does everyone feel about that scenario (making the playoffs) actually playing out. And if we're not going to, sure, trade some key pieces and add some more assets, I want to make the playoffs in the future, too.
Probably doesn't matter until we're closer to the trade deadline, just getting others' thoughts on the topic because it's interesting to me. Which is the point of these forums for 98% of people. The other 2% are losers who like to stir up [shirt] because apparently it gives them some sort of self-validation or makes them feel cool.

It all depends on this road trip coming up.
We will know before the end of the month.

That line always cracks me up
The Blues just need to take one game at a time and play three good periods. We have good players. This is the same team that did it last year when Monty got hired. The Blues have to win one of the games this weekend, but two would be nice.
Re: Blues need to play at a 105 point pace...
Because the 2012 LA Kings did for example, and well actually every team wants to get into the tournament.
I realize the play on the ice can be difficult to understand for someone such as you having no high level of playing experience; and certainly understanding the basics of the business side of the professional game is even more difficult. So, I'll try to simplify for you: (1) You cannot win the ultimate goal (Stanley Cup) if you do not get into the tournament. (2) Other than some performance bonuses the extremely large percentage of players income (100% of salaries) are paid for regular season games. (3) Although there is a degree of TV revenue sharing for all teams -- with more going to the teams in the game being televised, the predominant revenue for teams comes from paid tickets in the arena. (4) Now this part is hard, so play close attention: Practically all of the revenue for tickets sold in the playoffs flows directly to the bottom line. That means more cash to spend. If you do not achieve that then you struggle to pay the league minimum ...it's hard to get and keep proven talent...it's hard to sell tickets for a losing team -- vicious cycle to dig out of its.
So, you are wrong...Ahh-Gin.

Get the top 6 going. Will be interesting how much difference Neighbours makes as the possible driver. Supposedly he’s closehockey jedi wrote: ↑12 Nov 2025 22:05 pmThat line always cracks me up![]()

Under Montgomery last year, team played at 105-point pace (35-18-17).
A few games after he was hired (Nov. 24), Blues went 1-6-1.
The panic on this forum is remarkable.

This roster is playing far below it's potential, but a 105 pace might be asking a bit much. I don't expect them to be a top 5 pick and even working their way out of top 10 is possible. Goalies started playing like they should so just need our top forwards pull their heads out of their (bleep).

Its a lottery system if i recall both NY area teams lept from #10 to #1 is that right? Nuts. You never know.LGB73 wrote: ↑13 Nov 2025 09:00 am This roster is playing far below it's potential, but a 105 pace might be asking a bit much. Losing Neighbours hurt, he is an integral part of the top 6 (even though he was drafted in the late 20s) but until i see the top 6 start producing goals i will remain skeptical
Re: Blues need to play at a 105 point pace...
105 point pace to get to some magic number, but we’re 4 points out of a spot now even as bad as things are. We just have to keep pace and pick up extra points where we can.
