Even up. If the pitcher was on another team. Just gauging the caliber of pitcher Bloom would need to get for Burly. With the rebuild it would likely need to be a pitcher with some years of team control. Like Liberatore or McGreevy.

Even up is interesting. I'm guessing that would be a really good AAA pitcher.
But more likely, it wouldn't be straight up. It would probably be for a few prospects.

Good point. There would probably need to be an AAA pitcher with higher upside than either Liberatore and McGreevy involved.

I know you asked about a Cardinals pitcher, but... a pitcher with approximately the same value as Burleson on a team that would actually trade him, and would actually love to have Burleson, is Noah Cameron from Kansas City.

Would you do a Donovan for Cameron instead? Especially, if Bloom could trade Contreras and install Burly at 1B in the reset.Talkin' Baseball wrote: ↑12 Nov 2025 17:21 pm I know you asked about a Cardinals pitcher, but... a pitcher with approximately the same value as Burleson on a team that would actually trade him, and would actually love to have Burleson, is Noah Cameron from Kansas City.

No, not even close. Donovan is way more valuable, and way more in demand than Burleson. I'm not sure I would do Burleson for Cameron. I'd have think about that.Shady wrote: ↑12 Nov 2025 17:27 pmWould you do a Donovan for Cameron instead? I'd trade him for Hjerpes if it meant no more Shady (bleep), and weird obsessions.

Burleson does not return a really good AAA player. No chance. Some of you are jaded regarding how good a baseball player is because the cardinals don’t have but a few. The cardinals’ best players are complementary players on contending teams. No one is giving up a top level AAA pitcher for a 6 hole hitter who doesn’t play good defense. He would be an elite 6 hole hitter. Unfortunately, he and Herrera are the best the cardinals can produce.

Fernandez
Just do not see the value other posters place on Burleson. Too many "ifs" and "what ifs" for me to have him a player for 2026 or 27 season. Cardinals already have 3-4 DH's do not need more.

Burleson is coming into his prime as a hitter. Keep doubting, if you choose, like many on CT do. You'll see. If given the opportunity, Burleson will put up 1B worthy offensive numbers.
