Leafs fans calling for trade with the Blues
You see the Leafs losing it already. They are only two points ahead of the Blues overall looking at top five pick. Their goaltending has been really weak and they are just as lost in their 200 foot play as the Blues. Rumblings about Berube not the right guy starting and how the Blues are a great partner for trading -- Thomas, Binnie and Parayko (and to a lesser extent Kyrou). Matthews and Stolarz left last night and did not come back. As much as we need a shakeup, please there is nothing attainable on that roster or in their system that we want. Even if they were to dangle Easton Cowan. Just say no Armey.

Depending on the verdict on matthews they are going to kick the tires on schenn hard, maybe harder than last year.IsDurbanodoingtime wrote: ↑12 Nov 2025 12:09 pm You see the Leafs losing it already. They need Binnington and they need Schenn. Binnington isn't going to happen, at least not this year, but Schenn could be a posibility. Leafs don't have a 2026 1st rounder or a 2nd rounder, and they have traded a decent number of their prospects. Do they want to trade Cowan for Schenn? Guessing that would be the asking price, with maybe some picks changing hands to even things out. It's probably an overpay from the Leafs (depending on the picks), but they have put themselves in a bad position by having little trade capital to work with.
Tim, is Cowan still "all that", or has he lost some luster? Not sure why they sent him back down to the AHL.

Trade talks this early in the year are goofy. They are good for journalists, terrible for reality. Blues are 4 points out of the playoffs as of today. If you said that in March, people would be jumping for joy. Come back after January 1.
I'll say that with the caveat that if a player asks to want out that is a different story.

Cowan is good..still developing. They won’t give him up for Schenn…that’s my guess anyway. I don’t know what they would deal…maybe Robertson plus a prospect like Holinka. Just doesn’t seem like the Blues and Leafs are good trade partners right nowFrank Underwood wrote: ↑12 Nov 2025 13:22 pm They need Binnington and they need Schenn. If the Leafs want someone like Schenn its going to cost Cowan or Danford +Pierre McGuire wrote: ↑12 Nov 2025 13:58 pmCowan is good..still developing. Re: Leafs fans calling for trade with the Blues
this is similar to the calgary stuff last year. writers were saying the blues were going into full sell mode and calgary is in playoff mode. now look at them, both at the bottom mode. it stinks that there isn't more money around hockey so you can get some actual people paying attention to the league. but it is what it is.

Any major Leafs trade talks starts/stops with Knies otherwise no dice.

They don’t have a lot of quality but I still don’t think they deal Cowan for Schenn after the mistake with Marner.Harry S Deals wrote: ↑12 Nov 2025 14:38 pmIf the Leafs want someone like Schenn its going to cost Cowan or Danford +Pierre McGuire wrote: ↑12 Nov 2025 13:58 pmCowan is good..still developing. Schenn isn’t going to do anything to turn that franchise around. Chief might want him but not sure that’s enough to sway Treliving into making a panic deal

Joe, the Knies ship sailed a 2 1/2 years ago. If we couldn't get him for O'Reilly, we aren't getting him now.smilinjoefission wrote: ↑12 Nov 2025 15:16 pm Any major Leafs trade talks starts/stops with Knies otherwise no dice.
Re: Leafs fans calling for trade with the Blues
Don't let their problems become our problem. Leafs fans and sportswriters can say all they want. They don't control us nor the league. Schenn is not a problem if utilized properly and not out of position. His leadership is valuable. It's doubtful that whom we COULD get from them will help move the needle much for us.
IF Kyrou really is as bad for us as so very many say, then the thoughts about don't sell too low are meaningless. Get what you can, or waive him for nothing and get the $8MM/year off the books. From what I read here, that is worth a lot. Why pay him to sit upstairs, or to sit on the bench??
Fish, or cut bait.
And oh I cannot wait to hear from the primary Troll(s) about how nobody will ever want to come here if that's the way we treat players. My answer to that is: a good player might say, I like the way they think, they are serious about getting things right and winning. If they are a confident winner, then they will want that. And IF Kryou is as useless as people say, then players throughout the league know that too.

Re: Leafs fans calling for trade with the Blues
I think Knies probably has a partial NTC so he wouldn't be coming here even if they agreed, and so does Binnington and Kyrou. Not as much fun when players can decide if and where they go.Frank Underwood wrote: ↑12 Nov 2025 16:17 pmJoe, the Knies ship sailed a 2 1/2 years ago. Did any one listen to JB's SOG interview last night?
Doesn't sound like it.
