Interesting.

Without knowing BAs context, I find it interesting that this is a 100% internal lineup w/ no free agent projections, no trade projections, etc.

Given BA’s focus on prospects, I suspect there is some limiter that narrows the list down to homegrown players on the roster or in the minors. That said, at least one of those names (Burleson) will be a free agent in 2029, so not sure how they handled that.

When Baseball America makes these lists, they don't speculate on potential trades or free agents. They are only allowed to use players currently with the organization. Obviously, it would be nearly impossible for them to even guess on who may or may not be on the roster in four years. Go back and look at some of their older lists like these. Very few actually end up being 50% correct. Just a fun exercise to look at who they have and who is close to the Majors.

Man I hope not, that lineup would reek.

Catcher: Rainiel Rodriguez (22)---Check
First Base: Alec Burleson (30)---Possibly
Second Base: Thomas Saggese (27)--H E L L NO! JAG
Third Base: JJ Wetherholt (26)---Check but he's at 2nd Base starting on OD of 2026
Shortstop: Masyn Winn (27)---Check
Left Field: Jordan Walker (27)---H E L L NO!
Center Field: Victor Scott II (28)---Meh
Right Field: Joshua Baez (26)---Who knows?
Designated Hitter: Ivan Herrera (29)---Check

I fully expect C. Bloom will have added at least one, if not two better OF'ers and a quality 3rd baseman by 2029 (actually by 2028) as long as BDWJr (after the new CBA is in place) ups the payroll back to the $180+M range.

That is definitely a heavy lefty pitching staff.

Smells like triple-digit losses, or just a general vibe of defeat.

Laughably stupid.

Next they'll tell us the 2029 powerball winning numbers for each drawing.

No Padilla? Pretty young to make that projection just yet, I guess. He’d only be 22, I think, but I’m going to be positive and say that he’s up in 2029 and he would be playing 2B in this projection.

Also, this is not the first time I’ve heard about Wetherholt ultimately ended up at 3B. I am pretty sure it was a Baseball America guy, maybe this guy, he was saying he thought that he would end up with the power to play there full time.

I like the list, although Burleson will be a free agent by then, and probably gone. I would certainly have names like Padilla, Ortiz, Bernal, Crooks and Mitchell in the mix. This years draft pick will probably figure in to the 2029 team, as well.

I’m down with that. But could you make mine tomorrow?
