Craviduce - So a .699 OPS 27 year old at Memphis (who only plays corner OF) is blocking a .905 28 year old at Memphis who plays the IF, OF, and C? Got it. Did you also refer to Jason Motte as a pitcher AND catcher? If not, why not? If yes, why would you insist something so preposterous?

Re: Bryan Torres
The last time Torres caught professionally (not counting Puerto Rican Winter League) was in exactly one game in the Independent League in 2022. The last time he caught for an MLB-affiliated organization was in 2021—in 21 games and 144.1 innings for the Giants’ AA team.
It would be more accurate to say he briefly played catcher (past tense) during his career.

Re: Bryan Torres
Is he capable of catching in an emergency? I would probably say yes. For your reference, I believe a number of posters here at CT use Baseball Reference to look up stats. When you look up Bryan Torres on Baseball Reference, it lists his positions as "second baseman, centerfield, and catcher". Look it up if you doubt that. But of course if hair splitting is worth your time and leads you to some degree of excitement and engagement, continue on.NYCardsFan wrote: ↑11 Nov 2025 11:45 am The last time Torres caught professionally was in exactly one game in the Independent League in 2022. Re: Bryan Torres
OR, and hear me out... you could just acknowledge that he isn't a catcher. Wouldn't that be easier than to wage a debate that you know you'd have to throw your integrity out the window to continue with?Cranny wrote: ↑11 Nov 2025 11:57 amIs he capable of catching in an emergency? He has caught.
He is not currently thought of as a catcher.
He has not caught a single inning over the last THREE SEASONS.
Ask yourself why you'd be hellbent on referring to him as and considering him to be a catcher.

My post cited specific years, games, and innings—“for your reference,” all data pulled from the fielding register on Baseball Reference—and you have the nerve to tell me to “look it up”? As for “hair splitting,” as multiple posters in this thread have tried to tell you, there is a meaningful difference between “plays” and “played.” But by all means, carry on with your usual completely unearned arrogance and condescension.

What did stupid Moe do? Have a scouting group that scouted utility players and catchers? Are those, and half-aszed OFers, all that idiot drafted?Goldfan wrote: ↑10 Nov 2025 18:46 pmSo he’s tiny…..has no position….and older….Cranny wrote: ↑10 Nov 2025 18:07 pm Yes, he's older
Yes, he may be a typical AAAA player
Yes, he's small at 5' 7", 165 lbs.
But, the numbers he's put up at Springfield and Memphis the last 2 seasons are pretty impressive.
2025 at Memphis - .328/.441/.464/.905 in 104 games (414 PAs)
2024 - at Springfield - .331/.418/.416/.834 in 121 games (528 PAs)
He's played 2B, 3B, 1B, C, and OF.
Does he deserve at shot at the major league level during ST in 2026? Maybe a better option for versatile backup bench player than either Fermin or Prieto?
Is this the Bloom future??![]()

Cranny I’d love for you to promote a Cards farm hand who actually comes up and is a difference maker…..
Got any of those?

So did Baseball reference include in his "positions" catcher or not? Yes or no?
All he would be is a very emergency catcher just like past Cardinals have been. That's all. In case the starting catcher was pulled out and the backup catcher got injured.

Right on cue, the little septuagenarian troll emerges from the swamp. Even though he's been warned by the powers to be to stay off my tail.

you're a piece of work.

Cranny, I assume you’re referring to the poster who wrote “Baghdad Bob”?
So you can refer to him as “little Septuagenarian troll” but he can’t refer to you as “Baghdad Bob?
