Does anyone know if a school can define a spot in the playoffs?

Example….the 11 or 12 seed determines they would rather go to a bowl game than get smoked in a road game in a less than great location in the playoff..

Can they choose that ?

They all agreed to the current set-up so I guess not. Also, the money would be better in the playoffs than a bowl, assuming any bowl would invite them after such a stunt.

I guess n theory teams could probably decline the invite, but I doubt anyone would as that would tarnish a school for decades.

I get the logic, but hard to imagine a scenario where a school would do that. Making the playoffs is a huge honor and feather in the cap of a coach.

My question was prompted by a friend of a school who might make the playoff...his comment was that he would rather go to a bowl game in Florida than to the game they are likely to get in the first round..
