Fernando Tatis Jr
Is evidently on the trading block That would be a nice addition.
Friars would like Donovan or Burley plus a catching prospect

Working off Baseball Trade Values, it would take Donovan AND Burleson AND Crooks AND McGreevy to have approximately the same value as Tatis. Is that ok?

Re: Fernando Tatis Jr
Tatis Jr. is 25% less the player he was previously to his PED suspension. He is owed $36.7m annually for his age 30-35 seasons through 2034.
No thanks.

Could build around him, he is young
Produces WAR out the wazoo.

I’d do it, the Padres wouldn’t. 20 teams could easily beat that offer.Talkin' Baseball wrote: ↑10 Nov 2025 14:13 pm Working off Baseball Trade Values, it would take Donovan AND Burleson AND Crooks AND McGreevy to have approximately the same value as Tatis. Is that ok?

Yea Padres will be wanting top prospects they couldn’t sell their fans on trading him for two decent until it’s support players a catcher who couldn’t hit .200 in the majors and a middle of the rotation pitchercardinalsfan27 wrote: ↑10 Nov 2025 15:31 pmI’d do it, the Padres wouldn’t. 20 teams could easily beat that offer.Talkin' Baseball wrote: ↑10 Nov 2025 14:13 pm Working off Baseball Trade Values, it would take Donovan AND Burleson AND Crooks AND McGreevy to have approximately the same value as Tatis. Yep, it would probably cost JJ, Doyle and one more smaller piece.Ozziesfan41 wrote: ↑10 Nov 2025 15:37 pmYea Padres will be wanting top prospectscardinalsfan27 wrote: ↑10 Nov 2025 15:31 pmI’d do it, the Padres wouldn’t. 20 teams could easily beat that offer.Talkin' Baseball wrote: ↑10 Nov 2025 14:13 pm Working off Baseball Trade Values, it would take Donovan AND Burleson AND Crooks AND McGreevy to have approximately the same value as Tatis. 26 yo entering his prime.
8 years/200 million left on contract.
Contributes 6-7 WAR per season.
They can have Burleson, McGreevy, Crooks and Walker

Re: Fernando Tatis Jr
THE CARDS ARE REBUILDING. Why pay for and waste his productive years now and also pay for his non productive years later?
Re: Fernando Tatis Jr
I’m sure he is on the block. He’s not worth anywhere near the money left on his deal even though he’s only 26.
The Collective Bargaining Agreement needs to include a clause that allows the team to void the player’s contract if he gets suspended for PED use.
Tatis Jr and Ryan Braun cheated in order to get their contracts. They shouldn’t continue to enjoy the financial windfalls resulting from cheating.
Re: Fernando Tatis Jr
I think you need to check your sources.
According to Baseball Reference he has 9 years and more than $300,000,000 left on the deal.
I wouldn’t touch the cheater’s contract.
