And this is his slash as a Dodger:
.229 .280 .392 .672

Or basically what Gorman did this year.

.205 .296 .370 .666

Let's extend for him $15 million per year!!!!!
Stupid contract the Dodgers gave Edman but money is meaningless to them.
Definitely agree with that. They just spend their way out of bad contracts.

Agree to all. Love Edman, but .280 OBP is unacceptable
I'm interested to see what he looks like after a healthy offseason. He played the majority of this season hurt. He was excellent before his first injury - .818 OPS. He posted a .596 OPS in 56 games before he went on the IL again, and then a .501 OPS in the last 11 games to close the season upon his return.
Edman had an .818 ops in a month—April—where his career ops is .801. His best month.

While injuries hurt his numbers, let’s not act like he wouldn’t have eventually settled into a .710 ops and a .314 OBP we came to know from 2020-2023…

Bingo

I doubt Tommy makes that catch.
Kike wouldn't have bounced off Tommy - if Tommy even gets close to that ball
Kike probably catches it over the shoulder without Tommy plowing him over in that instance. Doubt the ball drops either way. Kike was right there.

At some point we should let Edman go.
He wouldn't be here now anyway.

You could throw any bench player we have on that stacked team....and they are where they have been....competing for a championship. It has nothing to do with his mindset. it has to do he's surrounded by Ohtani, Freeman, Betts, Yamamoto, Glasnow, Sasaki, Hernandez, Snell, etc on and on.
Yes and no. Obviously you have to have the talent, but
1) Hughly talented teams can and do choke because of team dynamics.
2) Talented teams get and need contributions from unsung heroes
3) Players like Edman are gamers. Everyone knows they arent the most talented, but they squeeze the most out of their talent and they help contribute to a positive/championship atmosphere with their hustle and attitude. In other words, they help set a tone. He does is also very flexible.

Does anyone think they craved and paid him as he was going to power them to a title. No, it was because they felt he compliments their team and vision well. Whitey didnt have the best players, but he had the players who were gamers and fit his vision well.

Untrue about any bench players. The wrong player can be a drag on a team, even a good team.

With a Rojas', Kleins and Edmans, pitching in, this team loses to the Blue Jays

I do understand by themselves they aren't enough and on a team without enough elite talent they arent the difference. But there is a reason the Dodgers sought him for few years.
Why are we even talking about Edman's mindset? That is completely irrelevant to the Dodgers. They are the most expensive team of all stars that has ever been assembled. Uncharted territory. Which is why the rules need to change.

I could play for the Dodgers in Edman's spot and they would have still made the World Series.
   sure thing, pal! Playing in Edman's spot, you would likely have struck out nearly every AB, and made numerous errors on routine plays.
Exactly my point. They can have a guy on the roster like that with their endless list of superstars signed from other teams. Easily would have made the playoffs and won the WS with that guy. Thank you for the assist!

he will look like he always does. .690-.720 ops. hes had hot streaks before with us before collapsing as season went on.

lets not do mental gymnastic curcles to believe he had turned a corner only cut short by innury in his 7th mlb season.

hes a .700 ops hitter. slightly below avg hitter well above avg glove. Hes a decent player but hes not a star amd while he had a hot streak during playoffs last year, he certainly wasmt the reason the dodgers won the world series this year

Well it would be a task to carry a team in post season and being nine hitters, it could be anyone. And to follow a very good post season year before is rare. That’s super Star stuff.
