It was on MSN.

At times these stories are a little farfetched. But we can hope this is true. I also read where they lost 12 minor league players to free agency.

Yep. The Cardinals are now officially the Dodgers and Yankees player grooming facility.

Sorry, if this is a repeat. I was in Park City, Utah for a week when this OP came out quite a while back. I had other things going on besides CT at the time.

If they can mix in a 180-200 million dollar payroll with an elite farm system they can hang with anyone.

They don’t need to outspend, just have a healthy balance done correctly.

Hopefully that instead of the grooming facility for DFA players anymore

Exactly. This is what I've said for 2 years yet half the posters here insist on a false dichotmy of only focusing on prospects OR Mo's way of bandaid rostering the MLB.

Or, we can trade our remaining major league talent and go full SEE WHAT WE HAVE!

100% correct. Can you imagine adding Cease, Tucker and and Suarez to the 2026 roster?

A repeat of 2019-2022 half-(donkey) contention and Cards are back to where they’re at now bc impatient fools like yall want a shortcut to the front of the line. This has been explained ad nauseam by posters smarter and nicer than me but thick skulls can’t be penetrated easily.

I don't know what all these columns and values mean in the fangraphs link.

Most of the columns are sortable. Did one of the sorts make the Cards #1.

Can anyone explain it to me? I'm 84 and pretty dense.

Think I understand how the $283M is derived.

It’s the team’s number in a column times the Column ‘worth’ in the header.

Example Card’s have #3 in column 45FV Pit value $4M (3 x 4M = 12M).
The sum of all the resultant values = $283M).
I’m guessing that the #3 is the number of players that qualified for the column.

I assume that the 45FV is the rating of the player’s tools is some manner.
What I don’t understand is exactly what makes up this rating column.

I guess,there aren’t any minor league players rated as a 70FV

Can anyone clarify this a little bit? Anyway it looks good that Cards are first.
