37 players currently on the 40-man. 6 more to add to protect from Rule V draft according to Denton's article

Barring trade, next to get removed off the 40-man?
Nick Raquet
Jorge Alcala
John King
Chris Roycroft

To be added to the 40-man according to Denton:
Leonardo Bernal
Josh Baez
Brycen Mautz
Pete Hansen
Max Racjic
Cooper Hjerpe

Already on the 40-man: Hence, Roby, Robberse. Along with Hjerpe, all recovering from arm injuries/ surgeries

So through some loophole Thompson is actually NOT being cut. Something about time on the IL.
Hmmm. Because the Cardinals "outrighted" him off the 40-man, Thompson elected free agency. The Braves just signed him. But they did not put him on their 40-man??

Thompson was put on outright waivers. Nobody claimed him in the time limit. Because he has 5 years experience, he had the right to declare free agency rather than being removed from the Cardinal 40-man. The Braves signed him and had the right to not add him to their 40-man if Thompson accepted that. Thompson did.

So Zach would rather be in the Braves system than the Cardinals. He was being passed by other injured LHP here I guess.
That appears to be a different Zach Thompson.

My bad. So many Zach / Zack Thompsons, so little time.

Our Zack Thompson is still a Cardinal and outrighted to the AAA roster.

Is he still projected to spend a lot more time on the minor-league DL?

This says unclear whether Thompson will be ready for spring training. He's off the 40-man fir now
