First off as I said earlier I think he stays put.
But I heard on the radio today he has stated no negotiations or talk of extension during season.
What I did not hear was if that personal "policy" applies with other schools or is that just with Missouri?
This is a big reason Drink will stay at Mizzou for quite a while

Drink was on the hot seat before the 2023 season, his 4th at Mizzou, with a just below .500 record. Napier was one game under .500 and in his 4th season at Florida. Freeze’s record was abysmal and made it almost four years.Shady wrote: ↑02 Nov 2025 14:58 pm Drink makes really good money as the Head Coach at Mizzou. He's the head coach in the top conference in college football. He has good NIL and facilities support. He has two major cities in the state to recruit from with very little in state competition. And the administration, influential boosters, the media and fan base don't seem as hostile as some other top jobs are. There are some sensible reasons for him to remain at Mizzou.

Drink has 2 winning seasons out of his 5 seasons here and his name comes up for every coaching vacancy.

That's because he's 18 games above.500 at Mizzou and 29 as a HC.TheMajicMan wrote: ↑03 Nov 2025 14:45 pm Drink has 2 winning seasons out of his 5 seasons here and his name comes up for every coaching vacancy.![]()

Believe me, I read it somewhere but now I go back to find the story and it is gone.
My apologies!
By the way, hope all is well with you!

The truth is these guys (head coaches) are wired much different than any poster here. I'd be content if I was Drink, but content isn't what many of them want... even if that means millions of $$ in a great town with total job security. Mizzou's trophy case is empty, and you cannot say that for any of the other 4 schools that are open.

One of the things I would bring up is he's close here and if he can complete the deal here and that is for example perhaps back to back playoff runs then he could write his ticket and he's still a young man in the coaching ranks.
If he goes to LSU or Florida prematurely he won't have the luxury of time he has at MU.
I also believe he finally has his QB to reach that next level something he hasn't had here before.
Would those other schools believe Drinkwitz could do something those other coaches couldn't?
