Broberg

Post by theograce »

I like him enough and am pulling for him, but man I hope he develops more passion/impact. I can’t see him leading a backend on a top team…not that he was ever projected to be that.

27 minutes last night and barely noticed him.

What would you pay Broberg to keep him now, and for how long? Same with Holloway, as I'm curious after the start of this year, prior to, people were saying $8mil apiece was no longer enough. I think we could get both for under $8 mil apiece now.

+1 4 Blocks; 1 hit; Played lots of minutes 27++!!!!!

Sounds like Jay Bo.

Its a good thing when you dont notice a D-Man.

We dont have to decide on Broberg or Hollway now. They need to do more in my eyes before I pay them long term. Lets talk after season. TBD==Holloway especially.

He still has not approached the level he was at at the beginning of last season. Once he got injured, he never recovered. He may be a decent middle pair guy ultimately, but my expectations have been tempered now.

This is very hard to answer for me on Broberg. He’s a tough guy to assess. Do I think I can win with him? I mean I’d be leaning on him for somewhat of a discount given that I overpaid him to get him here.

Might be better put to ask what would some other teams pay for Bro and Dylan?

I'd likely pay what it would take to keep them both Blue, aside from something cray stupid.

While neither not sustained yet, both have showed great play to consider.

They were talking about Broberg's next contract on 101 Wednesday. Apparently their agent is hockey's version of Scott Boras. They were saying with the contracts given out to similar players recently, good luck signing him for $9-9.5 x 8.

Yeah I would see this is a bad contract/problem. Can’t see him being an elite driver.

Man the Blues have done terrible contracts of late

I'd be willing to let him go RFA and see what the market pays for him, Blues can always match or if someone goes full RT we'll get at worse 2 1st rounders, a 2nd, and a 3rd or at best 4 1st rounders. This is the problem Army created by needlessly giving Fowler that horrid contract, that money would be better served towards a Broberg contract.

I think Armstrong will feel like Broberg owes him/them something. He better play hardball here

Last game - 27 minutes in a shutout victory
2 games ago - 1 of 2 D to finish even in a 5 goal loss
3 games ago - played a crucial role in keeping McDavid off the board

Not sure what this really means. I could find random stats of dmen with similar lines against top players in games. I’m sure Brewer had tons of good games. Parayko too.

You project Broberg as a guy being able to maintain that against the best of the best under pressure? I don’t see that right now. You do?

Hoping this doesn’t turn into another Krug/Nurse type situation moving forward.

If the question is, do I see signs of him being an elite defenseman yes I do.if the question is, is he ever gonna be as good as AP my answer would almost certainly not. I’ve been a homegrown fan of this team for a little over 50 years and I’ve seen us draft one elite defenseman and seen a handful of others come through here and I think Broberg could be at the lower end of those guys.

Pietrangelo no. It won’t be close to that.

He’s a great skater, but I’m not seeing an elite difference maker at either end of the ice. Just don’t think that’s him. Imagine Broberg being the most expensive player on your team right now.
