Re: Kerber and Vitale
Good announcers are still excited about the game they are announcing. Other guys get bored with the game and would rather talk about something else- anything else. I liked Pang but toward the end he really wanted to talk more about golf and his fancy lifestyle and places he went. That is all fine but do it with your friends and not on the air. For the current pair the game is just an excuse to regale us with their odd anecdotes. Kerber discussing his kid's belly button? Somebody needs to give them some boundaries.
Danny and Brad were exactly the same and now they have sucked Caray into that. Baseball is way slower and the players are in position so you know more of what is going on and now the type of pitch and speed is onscreen so they don't have to mention that unless it is somehow relevant. But there is still some nuance that they can fill in.

Kerber’s a parody of a bad play-by-play guy, while Vitale, one suspects, is in a work-release program for village idiots. Unlistenable. Makes me much less likely inclned to tune in,

I like Kerber more than John Kelly. Vitale is awful though. He talks way too much and can't find a point

He should look for one on the top of his head.billybaseball wrote: ↑07 Nov 2025 09:40 am I like Kerber more than John Kelly. Vitale is awful though. He talks way too much and can't find a point

I like Kerber but I cannot stand Vitale. When he comes on a radio show I immediately turn it off. Can't really do that now that he is on the TV.
He seems nice, but I have never seen someone so unbelievably unfunny try so hard to be funny. It doesn't work.

Re: Kerber and Vitale
I don’t just think it’s me, but the whole quality of the broadcast including the visual presentation is way diminished this season. Particularly with Fox Sports Mid West we had multiple replays of goals and saves and hard checks into the boards. The color man did not have time to banter because he was too busy describing the play & frequent replays .. This season, commercials abruptly, appear or get cut off because the play started again. So my point is the presentation quality is down -whomever is producing and picking what is shown.
With less replays, Joey’s ADHD mind is allowed to wander instead of reporting what is on his monitor
I also agree with the person who said that we need the play-by-play people to identify the players on the other team, particularly.

I thought that Chicago had the worst when they tried Vosters after Pat Foley retired. He didn't know the sport of hockey and constantly misidentified players but he was way better than this clown show. The belly button talk....wtf man

Re: Kerber and Vitale
I just cant do them anymore, and I refuse to listen to another second of their scatterbrained off topic non-funny broadcasts, and the only antidote to their pointless poisonous jibberish is to replace them with a couple of competent people who are sincerely interested in tellin the audience what’s actually going on on the ice, in real time.
Till then, bring on the MUCH more enjoyable and knowledgeable opponent’s broadcasts!

Re: Kerber and Vitale
I think it'd be better if they swapped Vitale for Rivers. He was better at staying focused on the game with Kelly last year. Might help keep Kerbs on track. I don't think Kerber is bad at all at the play-by-play side of things. He has a good voice and excitement for it. These guys just have to stay focused on the game more. Asides are fine, but don't just go wandering off on random tangents for multiple shifts at a time.

Chris Kerber has the incredible talent of being able to sound like a down home shucks guy buy not articulating the word "the" - he will say "Anna" as in "Anna puck up to Sundqvist" because he's so relatable. It's the fancy talkers who have to articulate the 'the.' Then he seamlessly pitches wealth management. You get the feeling he knows the personal values of the wealth managers and they're literally the best people he knows.
Vitale is unable to do the job period.
The idea that we're dogpiling is ridiculous. People who say that have no discernment.

We all have opinions.
I enjoy them. Andy Strickland on the other hand--hes a lot to take. Bernie--A little less Bernie as well.

I actually have been pleasantly surprised. They aren't the best but they are not awful in my opinion. I actually enjoy them more than JK and Rivers.
JK and Pang are still the best in recent memory by far.

Re: Kerber and Vitale
I like Kerbs--for the most part. He tries too hard to come up with game-closing one-liners that precede his tagline, and said tagline of "Bring out the Zamboni!" is just bleh. Also, when he and Vitale start talking about "puck luck" I want to run out of the room, mostly because once they get going, it's puckluck-puckluck-puckluck and it sounds like something a kid would say.seattleblue wrote: ↑07 Nov 2025 10:25 am Chris Kerber has the incredible talent of being able to sound like a down home shucks guy buy not articulating the word "the" - he will say "Anna" as in "Anna puck up to Sundqvist" because he's so relatable. Now I can live with all of that, but Kerbs has one MAJOR flaw: his score calls. Almost every announcer has a very simple, smooth inflection as they exclaim, "He shoots, he scooooooores!"
Kerbs on the other hand... omg, it's painful just thinking about it. There's nothing smooth about his scoring calls at all.
His "He shoots, he sccccoooooeeeeEEEEEErrrrraaaaaahOOOOORRRRAAAEEESSSS!" It's literally painful to listen to especially if I'm in the car and have the volume turned up.

They lost so much replacing Chase with that goofball. He’s BAD….

Well put, hard to deny.Smith2Herr wrote: ↑07 Nov 2025 09:34 am Kerber’s a parody of a bad play-by-play guy, while Vitale, one suspects, is in a work-release program for village idiots. Unlistenable. Makes me much less likely inclned to tune in,
Kerber is perhaps average on his own, but at this point should have done the work to become better. Something he does miserably is escalate accordingly. He routinely gets worked up about mundane events, leading one to believe something exciting has happened - then will do the opposite at other times. He also makes wrong calls quite often. Is the guy even paying attention? Is he too distracted by Vitale? I'm assuming they're just watching the broadcast like we are, but he has called "tried to go 5 hole on that one" when it was up in the goalie's chest, and "beats him on the ice" when the puck was elevated over the pad (then Vitale added to the blunder).
We went from world class and SC to circus act and last place.
