Blues did quite well without Kyrou
I’m just saying!!
Re: Blues did quite well without Kyrou
A desperate Blues team went almost 20 minutes without a shot against the Sabres.
It’s so fun to watch this team.

Hopefully this awakens him. This team could use a highly motivated Kyrou.
Re: Blues did quite well without Kyrou
I don’t know about the 20 minutes, but their “offense” only generated four, eight, five shots on goal each period. The fourth line was buzzing around, but Thomas and Holloway and whomever weren’t very noticeable as far as generating good chances at least I didn’t see any.
This is one game where Hofer saved their bacon. He faced a number of very tough shots. I can’t say we made the other goalie work too hard and he would have wanted the second goal back.

Number 18 set on the bench for a good portion of the 2nd without getting a shift. Monty has had it with this group and good for him. I kind of wonder if Army went with a 5 year contract so that the players will know he isn't going anywhere! 5 years is a long contract for a coach.
Re: Blues did quite well without Kyrou
The Blues fourth liners, defensemen, and Hofer won that game. The top-9 offensively was completely MIA. This is not sustainable.
Re: Blues did quite well without Kyrou
I’d have bet money this post was coming
It was Buffalo for crying out loud

Re: Blues did quite well without Kyrou
They shut em out 3-0 and punctuated the win with a perfect ENG.
Are you sad that they played a tight, and very closely checked game where they all demonstrated that having a consistent, team-wide high compete level will win a hockey game?
I will trade high power scoring for well-played low scoring victory every time.
They have All-Star Games for showboating.
Games like tonight showcase how to play the complete game in all three zones.
Games like tonight win playoff series.
Re: Blues did quite well without Kyrou
Games like tonight I wouldn’t pay $5 to watch. Top 9 producing zero. Hofer stood on his head. How many nights do you think you’re getting a goal and assist out of Joseph? You’re not making the playoffs playing that way - you’re headed for a top 5 pick.Harry York 37 wrote: ↑07 Nov 2025 02:18 amThey shut em out 3-0 and punctuated the win with a perfect ENG.

Our top nine did their part to keep their top nine completely off the score sheet.
I guess defense doesn’t sizzle much on highlight reels.
It was a joy to wath the Blues smother a team for so many minutes.

IMO, This was not an impressive victory. A couple posts could’ve gone in and it could’ve easily been a loss.
They played mostly a good team defense, and especially closing things down in the 3rd.
But the offense was abysmal. Inability to produce much at all.
Look at this team, who scored, and it is still a microcosm of thelarger picture. 2 players I thought were complementary adds this summer (Suter and Bjugstad), are out scoring Thomas, Buch, Holloway, and Schenn.
Mojo is still lost for the top forwards. Frightening none of those players have turned the corner 15 games in.

The team is in an astounding funk. Seven in a row?mph6689new wrote: ↑07 Nov 2025 02:45 am IMO, This was not an impressive victory. A couple posts could’ve gone in and it could’ve easily been a loss.

They went back to basics tonight against a weak team and they played defense first, high compete hockey.
It’s a giant step in a healthy direction.
Losing Kyrou’s offense was noticeable. I hound myself muttering about it
I did not miss the sight of what used to be a franchisee player showing the rest of the NHL how little he cares about the 200 foot game, routinely.
Im sure most of his teammates weren’t sorry to miss that, either.
Thomas, I worry about these days,He stuck with Kyrou against the Chief and since Army had painted himself into such a tiny corner with both their contracts a few months before… The Chief had to go.
His benching in the second is concerning.

Are you talking about Buffalo tonight, or the Winnipeg playoffs?

Harry, of course a team needs to win games like this when the circumstances dictate. This game occurred in the context of a season-long dysfunctional mess the they are trying to crawl out of, so there are positive things to take away. Two points. But the game the night before happened, too, and right now the top-9 guys are a dysfunctional mess even in this shutout victory. That in no way reflected a team playing top-notch all-round hockey. Any team with enough offensive talent firing on enough cylinders to score a league average three goals beats the Blues. Would they even have to break a sweat to contain the Blues offense?
I'm good with them refocusing on the team defense, that needs to be played as an instinctive norm, but if the team doesn't start clicking offensively, fixing the forecheck and zone time and finishing issues, they will remain a cellar-dweller.

I suggest Theograce not to watch make us all happy!!!
Re: Blues did quite well without Kyrou
I’m never sad that the Blues won a game, but as others have stated, that type of hockey is not sustainable. The Blues of the 80s played like that and with the exception of one miracle run got run over regularly.Harry York 37 wrote: ↑07 Nov 2025 02:18 amThey shut em out 3-0 and punctuated the win with a perfect ENG.
