Army - The Accidental Tanker

Post by a smell of green grass »

Who knew that Army's "staying competitive" would look so much like "tanking"?

Show me a team that has hasn't obtained elite talent in the NHL draft in 17 years, and I'll show you the Blues 2025.

Nothing changes in St Louis until Army, the Accidental Tanker, is shown the door.

Tanking is not a thing. These guys are playing for their next contract and their next opportunity. Nobody on any NHL team now-a-days is going to purposefully play like (bleep) so a team can get a better draft pick. Guys are still playing to be relevant and for their livelyhood.

They also want to showcase themselves to get the attention of a contender at the very least

Players don't tank. They are playing for a better paycheck.

GMs do tank. They want to make sure that their paychecks are used wisely. GMs don't like paying a non-factor winger 8 million per year.

What tanking looks like: Doug Armstrong playing Mailloux.

What winning look like: Doug Armstrong bringing in Rosen and demoting Mailloux.
