Ah. Haven’t seen anything to argue with that yet but I will say the guy you drool over didn’t look exactly smart when he first came up

Agree on the hype.BalotelliMassive wrote: ↑06 Nov 2025 13:39 pmYup - the hype from the beginning was out of control. I don't understand why Armstrong felt the need to add a project defenseman to a team he built to compete for a cup.
IMO, Mailloux was brought in to be among the next wave of prospects. The Stenberg, Lindstein, etc.

Agree with the overall premise of your post but Kessel is hot garbage, I don’t think we need to see him again.blackinkbiz wrote: ↑06 Nov 2025 12:38 pmThis is precisely what every Habs fan warned about when I asked them about Logan on their forum. 0 defensive instincts. And I completely agree if he would just show SOMETHING on offense that you could say okay, there's the potential, just have to harness it. But, nope, it's the complete opposite. You just can't keep a rookie with 0 goals and 0 assists with a -13 +/- on a last-place team when you're trying to climb out of the cellar.stlblue06 wrote: ↑06 Nov 2025 12:26 pm This isn’t a Mailloux bashing thread or am I saying he is a bust but the reality is that the Blues did not expect this kind of start from both the team and LM.
After last night the Blues season is now officially in danger of slipping away early and they can no longer afford to throw LM out there and let him “develop” or “learn”.
Sure he’s getting terrible goaltending when he’s been on the ice but the eye test doesn’t provide much of a response to his stats. I just saw the 5th goal where he was looking directly at the Caps player that batted the puck with his hand past him on a 3 on 2 rush. Wilson and Ovi stopped skating and Hofer probably assumed the play would be dead.
To dive at the puck and tap it to the Caps forward that immediately scored is one of the dumbest hockey plays you will ever see from an NHL player. If he was showing signs of what he is supposed to be good at (great offensive instincts/shot) then I say keep him up but I can’t recall ONE rush or ONE shot that looked threatening from him. Not even ONE above average outlet pass that started a 2 on 1 or hell even a 3 on 2.
I think the Blues will send him down and bring Rosen up or they will healthy scratch him for at least the next 10 games.
Rosen or even Kessel would be a better replacement for now. My concern is this is very similar to Cardinalsesque-type stubborness in that they feel they gave up so much to get him they're going to play him no matter what, which would be idiotic.

There isn’t a player on this team except the two rookies Snuggy and Dvo that hasn’t had their share or more than their fare share of horrendous decisions this year including army and montybud white wrote: ↑06 Nov 2025 12:34 pmAgreed. Maybe I am being unclear
at 17 games in AP did not look like the world beater defenseman that he became. I watched his first full year and he did get better but plenty of people already were calling him a bust and I preached patience. I am in no way comparing LM's ceiling to AP, just saying it is way to early to judge. In November of 2010, not too many people were predicting that AP would be the Blues absolute best player in the franchises' biggest game ever

It's funny I do think right now Mailloux is at 17 nhl games and Petro was a -9 after taking same 2 seasons booking....17 games. I don't care how old they were either.fish wrote: ↑06 Nov 2025 16:55 pm

I'm not comparing them but it's like when told what it takes for some to come around to the game on D every one shakes their head yes then when it comes down to the rubber hitting the road......whoooa....it's all out the window around here. The Blues losing streak and current pitiful play has fans with zero patience and plenty of fodder.
He does not look good to me at this mark. He is not even bringing much of any part of what he was good at in the AHL. But the Blues made the trade and they need to stick with it and stick with him up here. This would be a huge mistake to throw this kid to the side at this time. And I doubt the adults will do that.
And I totally agree Tucker is just a horrible partner for JM to get traction. This is actually a disservice to both of them.
Re: In a Tough Spot with Mailloux
One guy was always known to be smart and world class defensively throughout his entire hockey life as opposed to challenging for the other guy. Mails will be 23 this year. Talking about Blues legends who started at 19 makes no sensefish wrote: ↑06 Nov 2025 16:55 pmMaybe I am being unclear

Re: In a Tough Spot with Mailloux
Tucker is fine when not paired with Mailloux (even on the season).
Fowler's play suffers when paired with Mailloux (-9 now on the season)
Explain.

I agree. Except, since Mailloux just isn't NHL ready right now, I believe he needs to be sent down to regain his footing.dhsux wrote: ↑06 Nov 2025 17:15 pmIt's funny I do think right now Mailloux is at 17 nhl games and Petro was a -9 after taking same 2 seasons booking....17 games. Isn't this the whole tank vs. compete argument? JM is still a prospect. If we don't mind not being competitive then call up all our top prospects, cut the dead weight, and let the prospects develop in the NHL, but I thought that ship wouldn't float in St. Louis?
The trade was made, it was talked up, but the reality is that he is just not ready. Send JM down down and let him develop / redevelop in the AHL.

Yeah, I didn't think you could...you're not very knowledgeable or wise to the game.dhsux wrote: ↑06 Nov 2025 17:37 pmummmm....I'm not going to explain anything to you.Mr.Snuggleupagus wrote: ↑06 Nov 2025 17:26 pmTucker is fine when not paired with Mailloux (even on the season).

None of it is on the kid....its 100% on the people making the decisions.Harry S Deals wrote: ↑06 Nov 2025 13:40 pm Early in the first period Mailloux pinched in and went to the net but of course the pass never came, I honestly flipped the game off at 3-0 so i didnt see the other goals against my assumption is the complete lackadaisical team play led more to the goals against than the 6th defenseman did.
But nothing has changed since this trade was made anyone who knows what they are talking about said it will take Logan Mailloux time to be effective perhaps 100+ NHL games. IF LM had a Suter or Leddy on the LHD side perhaps the Blues would be able to carry Mailloux more this isnt all on the kid
Re: In a Tough Spot with Mailloux
Seriously dude I clearly said I was not comparing them at all. I have no words to help if you think AP came out as a stud right out of the gate. The hearts in your eyes are clouding your memory, or you did not watch him thentheograce wrote: ↑06 Nov 2025 17:25 pmOne guy was always known to be smart and world class defensively throughout his entire hockey life as opposed to challenging for the other guy. He's been playing a lot with Fowler lately (and Fowler's play and stats have suffered as a result).Harry S Deals wrote: ↑06 Nov 2025 13:40 pmIF LM had a Suter or Leddy on the LHD side perhaps the Blues would be able to carry Mailloux more this isnt all on the kid
