He is also 7th out of the 8 managers they've had in winning percentage And the guy in last place was hired in the middle of last season after Bud Black got fired.

Sorry, but if the Cardinals signed a manager who did that badly, wherever they managed, would get ripped apart here.
Exactly.

And by that rationale, Marmol is a fantastic manager, because his winning percentage, despite a horrific '23 and a slightly less horrific '25, is still over .500.

And literally nobody can argue that either of those teams was built to win anything.

I'm not saying that Marmol is the next LaRussa, but the abject absurdity of those of us wanting to hire Walt Friggin' Weiss is...something.
By no means am I advocating for hiring Weiss. Shelton had an even worse record at Pittsburgh and he was recently hired. It surprised me that nobody hired Hurdle. He posted a winning over 8 seasons in Pittsburgh and won the NL pennant with Colorado.

People are acting like Oli just appeared out of nowhere and was handed the Cardinals job. He managed for years in the minors. He was brought up to coach 1B for the Cardinals in 2017. He was named bench coach in 2019 and held that role when he was hired.

He had 10 years of managing and coaching experience before getting the job. You don't have to like the guy, but it's just funny watching people get all worked up over a guy who was a failure as manager, but also worked in some other coaching positions in his career.
