As of right now it is and remains unknown which GM made the right call....or perhaps better put the better call....on this trade.

I couldn't get to the article so hard to comment on that I'll just say LM has come out slow and has imo showed improved play while Bolduc came out like a ball of fire and from here anyway, has cooled down quite a bit.

It's clear the two teams are taking two different approaches with their players. Not saying it's by choice either but this one will take some time to sort out.

“As of right now” the team with the better player made the better trade. Can that change in 3 years sure but that’s not right now and now matters too.

I remember watching Bolduc in the Memorial Cup in 2023. The Remparts won, and Bolduc was a big part of it. But I was surprised to see how physically he played , especially in the final series. I assumed that was the influence of Patrick Roy, his coach at the time. But then he went to Springfield, with about 1/4 of the 2023/24 season with the Blues and he never really played that way. Then, following the 4 Nations break, he played physical again and had a ton of success the last third of last season. Can he do it for a whole season? No idea, but it’s obviously harder to play that style. Regardless, I wish him luck with Montreal.

By the way, I fully expected him to be trade bait when Army was trying to trade for Dobson this summer. I assumed Bolduc (since Roy is the Islanders coach) and the Blues 1st round pick in the last draft (Carbonneau). Dobson obviously made it known he wanted to stay in the Eastern Conference, so we’ll never know if that deal could have happened. Hopefully Mailloux develops, but I’m glad we didn’t trade that pick! Looking forward to Carbonneau next season.
