Bolduc - Interesting Interview

Re: Bolduc - Interesting Interview
I find it interesting that Bolduc claimed that his “game” is all about being physical and getting in on the forecheck. He only added the being physical part at the end of last season. So to make that his identity already is a bit odd.
He’s not a grinder in the corners but has added hitting to his “game”. That’s all, glad he’s come back down to earth a bit as that trade is still rough.

It’s not that odd really. You adapt. Lots of guys do it. i mean this topic has been beat to death, bolduc trade, but it is odd to me that your glad he came back to earth. Its not his fault he was traded, all the best to the young man. and it doesnt change what logan is...stlblue06 wrote: ↑04 Nov 2025 11:07 am I find it interesting that Bolduc claimed that his “game” is all about being physical and getting in on the forecheck. It's still fair to call it an interesting development. That's not really who he was in Juniors. He got by more on just skill. But he's clearly cognizant that he can't get away with that in the NHL. Good for him.theograce wrote: ↑04 Nov 2025 11:21 amIt’s not that odd really. You adapt. Lots of guys do it. For reference, this was one profile of him leading up to the draft:
-Defensive Game: “Defensive game is a bit of a work in progress. He needs to be more disciplined in his assignments”...”has a tendency to fly the zone early”...”favours a poke check or a stick lift vs taking the body”...”doesn’t always get involved in physical battles down low”...”doesn’t always make the smart play in transition.”

Re: Bolduc - Interesting Interview
I think forechecking and physicality were pretty big parts of his game after the midpoint of last season. He looked well on his way to becoming a gritty, 2 way forward with speed and a good shot. I haven’t watched Montreal much this season but his self assessment sounds pretty accurate to me.

Oh come on. Myself and half the fanbase are thanking the hockey gods Bolduc isn't on pace for 50 goals anymore. Does it make sense? Of course not. But it's what humans do. Always justifying and balancing.

Re: Bolduc - Interesting Interview
I remember watching Bolduc in the Memorial Cup in 2023. The Remparts won, and Bolduc was a big part of it. But I was surprised to see how physically he played , especially in the final series. I assumed that was the influence of Patrick Roy, his coach at the time. But then he went to Springfield, with about 1/4 of the 2023/24 season with the Blues and he never really played that way. Then, following the 4 Nations break, he played physical again and had a ton of success the last third of last season. Can he do it for a whole season? No idea, but it’s obviously harder to play that style. Regardless, I wish him luck with Montreal.
By the way, I fully expected him to be trade bait when Army was trying to trade for Dobson this summer. I assumed Bolduc (since Roy is the Islanders coach) and the Blues 1st round pick in the last draft (Carbonneau). Dobson obviously made it known he wanted to stay in the Eastern Conference, so we’ll never know if that deal could have happened. Hopefully Mailloux develops, but I’m glad we didn’t trade that pick! Looking forward to Carbonneau next season.

After coming back to see a predictable grace-o type post but followed by some other idiots….im glad to see someone has some intelligence on this site.bluetunehead wrote: ↑04 Nov 2025 11:43 amIt's still fair to call it an interesting development. Of course someone can add an element of hitting to their game but common sense will tell you that a few months of hitting regularly does not = your entire identity as a hockey player. He’s been playing in checking leagues since he was a little kid FYI
Re: Bolduc - Interesting Interview
Yes thank you for common sense post #2 of the thread. It should not need to be said that I have any ill feelings towards Bolduc or want him to fail. And Im not calling LM as bust already.blackinkbiz wrote: ↑04 Nov 2025 12:30 pmOh come on. Myself and half the fanbase are thanking the hockey gods Bolduc isn't on pace for 50 goals anymore. It’s the opposite, I saw his potential and wanted (still do) to see him reach that potential on the Blues. If you would have warm and fussy feelings watching Bolduc score at a 40 goal pace the entire season on MTL while LM is getting healthy scratched half the games then you don’t care about the Blues success very much….you only care about the personal journey of any players that ever played for the team.

The Blues have played 13 games so far this year. This trade still has years to be graded.

Re: Bolduc - Interesting Interview
Once a player is no longer a Blue either thru trade or signs elsewhere in free agency, I honestly couldn’t care less how they play with their new team except for maybe one or two favorites from over the years. thought that’s how most fans felt till I started readin here and saw so many people pining for so many former players. I dont wish ill will on former Blues or anything, but my loyalty is to the Blues team, period…apostrophe, exclamation mark, and comma.
